That is true.
I really appreciated the call from the team when that happened.

here is my concern, is it going to happen again to someone else? That is the only reason I brought it up here.
The logic code should have stopped pushing the OTA if the car already had the recall done.
I GUARANTEE you there are people looking at this right now

There are many variables - the team will utilize your situation to diagnose and take action. We’ll be keeping a close eye on it.

The OTA will be immediately stopped for other cars like yours, they will identify the root cause, fix it, and then resume the OTA once it's safe. They take this very seriously as you can tell. They do everything possible to avoid a bricked car, but it happens very rarely and alarm bells go off when it does.

The rest of you don't have to turn off OTAs because the Ford OTA team takes care of stopping bad OTAs themselves. I'm sure it's already been stopped at this point. Usually this only affects a specific subset of vehicles so it doesn't make sense for everybody to turn them off and miss their OTAs.

In terms of your car, the dealer will need to manually de-inhibit your car, then reflash the affected modules. This typically doesn't take that long (hour or two) unless there was some type of hardware failure in a module, which would require a priority replacement.

The mobile tech just left my house. Per his report to me, the OTA clears the recall. He hooked to the car while sitting in his van and got out with a smile on his face. No reprogramming needed. On a side note, the mobile service 10K maintenance involved measuring tread depth and a visual inspection of the brakes. Hopefully all of the various databases will synchronize so the barrage of calls/texts/emails/postcards will stop.

I'd like to add that I am impressed with the 25S65 recall. Before the update I would often see the 12V SoC in the 60-75% range. Even after finally replacing the OEM battery with a new Ford battery shortly before the recall the SoC would be around the same. Now it's always 75% or higher... often in the mid/high 80% range.

One question about the 12V SoC... do any of you ever see the SoC at 100%? My wife does a lot of short trips but even after a 400 mile trip last month the most I have seen the SoC was at 96%... and that was with the Mach-E being continually on for over 8 hours (driving/charging/driving).
Where do you see 12v SOC? Are you using OBD2, or is it visible somewhere else? I remember it used to be on the website, but thought that got "fixed".

One can see it via OBD2 or a volt meter.

Are you sure about this statement?
My car had the recall done at the dealership couple months ago, and got the notification last night on the same OTA, and today I’m the morning, it bricked my car.
Got got towed to the dealership and no ETA, but according to the person I talked to , “IVT/OTA Research Escalation Specialist”, the repair might take 1 day or 1 week.

Nope. Car is still at the dealership since 11/5th. Last call with the service advisor was on Friday and they don’t know what’s wrong with the car and they are working with Ford engineers, and I was told it will take really long for them to pin point the issue and fix it.
I was planning to check with them tomorrow.

House MD,

I believe you said you had recall done at dealer, how long ago was that done.....curious if the OTA came in quickly after the in person update and recall was still showing open for you when OTA came in.

I'd love to be a fly on the wall when I hear these things to see what's really going on. When a vehicle gets bricked from an OTA, the process to get it out on inhibit mode takes minutes. Assuming the module is indeed bricked, it does not take long to reflash it and recover it. Unless something went really wrong, engineers are not required for these types things. Sorry to hear about the troubles.

Yeah, same. It should take minutes not days to fix unless something is drastically wrong. Or the database got messed up somehow?
