Some said it couldn’t be done: there was no way to make the iX grill look worse.

I would like to see how it accelerates from a standstill. My brother just got an i4 and the car is So Slow off the line, but is faster accelerating from ~5 mph. He was shocked how much faster my GT w/ perf upgrade was (night and day). This ix3 would be slower than his i4 due to weight.

I’m not impressed with what bmw has to offer. And I don’t believe the MSRP. His i4 is over $70k for the mediocre car (rear center tunnel? Come on) that it is. Also: ugly as sin.

I live in a densely charge stationed area and there are only a few that are even 350 kw. That 400+ mile range is looking real nice though. However, if they can do it, other companies can do it. I’m not buying an ugly Bmw

The 400 kw charging is intended for future proofing though. Assuming you wanted to keep this beast around for more than a few years. What’s interesting is that places with inferior charging may actually get fast stations first, assuming power infrastructure is up to the task.

Kind of like the third world leap frogging over land lines to get cell phones instead, and China leap frogging mass ICE vehicle adoption to EVs

Frunk volume?

that should have been the first spec you listed.

Yes, big enough for a dozen #2 pencils. Germans don't believe in frunks. Some Mercs have the hood bolted down.

Didn’t find any numbers but it looks bigger than the 2025+ Mach-E

The extra cover is an odd choice. I far prefer the Mach E approach where the hood seals the frunk area. The extra cover adds an extra step plus greatly reduces usable volume. Size-wise it's hard to tell, but my guess is that it isn't any bigger than the 2025 Mach E, especially given the cover...

My first EV was the BMW i3. 5 years of great fun. Then the AC started making clicking sounds and wasn't cooling well, and the dealer said it was just low on freon and a $200 recharge got it going again. Two weeks later, the AC went out completely. Turns out the compressor self-destructed (one year out of warranty). Turns out BMW decided a trap in the dryer, common in virtually every other auto AC was omitted, apparently for a less than $1 manufacturing savings, and a 0.001 MPGe improvement. Also turns out that BMW didn't like the Nissan air-cooled batteries (excellent thing to avoid!), but also didn't like the way everyone else use a heat exchanger to utilize a water cooling loop through the batteries, and, instead, ran the AC coolant directly through the batteries (cheaper, and another 0.1 MPGe improvement). However, that self destructed compressor without a trap to catch shedded metal parts allowed those shredded metal parts to circulate all through the dual heat pump valves as well as the battery. The result was an over $23K repair bill on a vehicle with an $18K retail blue book value. BMW to the rescue, with a $2K credit towards a new BMW (and $7K trade on the totaled salvage vehicle). As I said, that was my first EV, and also my first BMW, and also my last BMW.

I like the sound of 400 mile range, but don't really believe it based on the battery size, which would result in about 4 mi/kwh. Is this really going to be 33% more efficient than the MME? I assume the aero is not much better based on that squarish front end. I know Lucid has claimed up to 5 mi/kwh, but at lease the Air looks aerodynamic. This, not so much. Yes, I know, there are a lot of factors that go into the efficiency, but as speeds increase, the aero term of the consumption equation dominates everything else.
