@Mach-Lee , is the plastic worm gear that fails an integral part of the actuator (from you videos, it looks like it is)? If so, why would it have to be replaced separately?

@Mach-Lee , is the plastic worm gear that fails an integral part of the actuator (from you videos, it looks like it is)? If so, why would it have to be replaced separately?
Its part of the latch release assembly
My guess they thought it was the actual latch hook that was bad, and to their credit, it does sit different when this fails, but that's because the release assembly isn't letting go properly

LJ8Z*16700*A Latch ASY - Hood
LJ8Z*16700*C Latch ASY - Hood

not sure what the two parts are?

not sure what the two parts are?
When I google these, it seems to be the same part......
And its the latch/hook assembly that grabs the frunk bar
My best guess is they assumed that failed, and cut it out to open the frunk in the first place, then had to cut it again to open it when they tried to close it after replacing it

Yes, the whole part needs to be replaced. See post #15

I listed the part # in my post, -C is what you need but some dealers like to replace -A too. FYI you can search and look up pictures of parts on fordparts.com if you don't know what something is.

Hello my wif'es 2021 Mach e Cali RT 1 has this issue with the Frunk - it's ajar. I went to add washer fluid and used the app and bam it got stuck. Won't open or close. Due to the weather and not having a garage at home to delv into repairs I opted to let the dealer inspect it as well as washer fluid not working. We hear the pump but no fluid coming out of it.

Dealer says $540 for diagnostic for both. Mind the so called c ontract we signed stated nothin in regards to that cost We believe it to be an old form for gas vehicles. We complained about being charged when the Service Rep stated "it may be under warranty" - car has 52k and purchased in 2021 late.

Stopped by yesterday to air my grievances and they offered to do all work for $1600. Kinda steep but it is a dealership. They have it working with the manual opening but say that it is not safe to drive this way. Any thoughts on this? thanks

Replace the part yourself if they got it working, its easy. As long as you only use the manual latch, it won't get stuck in the halfway spot.
As for the washer fluid..... if you hear the pump, its either plugged or a kinked hose, that place is hosing you for cash

Thanks for the reply. My wife and are not the ones to play with trying to overcharge, lie, mislead, etc. The so called contract form we signed was some old form that I have attached. This form appears to be incorrect. It stated nothing about the cost for diagnosis until after they contacted me. I am not new to this world... Someone tell me your thoughts. We wound up taking the vehicle for $198 and ordering parts to repair ourselves. If it were not for the extreme cold weather we are having in Maryland we've would have never gone to the dealer. Thanks to this forum for having insight on this matter.

My neighbor happened to have a fiberglass yard marker pole. I used that to poke the frunk emergency button and it triggered the opening sounds and opened right up.

Just an idea for anyone having this issue recently.

Is it possible your washer fluid froze in the tubing? In California it is very hard to find fluid that will not freeze.

I would say you got lucky. Usually, once the motor gets stuck, no method of triggering it will work (frunk button, button in the app, child escape button, or manual pull).

Well magically when I took off spash shield and lifted the Mach E to check the windshield washer fluid the front washer started to work again as normal. The rear still doesn't work and on a warm day I will check it out again.
