So, I guess I need to really fully read the manual and spend lots of time playing in the driveway.
I cannot reliably get the voice recognition to take me to a particular Sirius FM Channel.
I think I have figured out if you push the voice command button and just say do this or that, you are asking the connected phone to do something and it will say I don't find an app for that.

I have the Sync system set to recognize "Hey Ford" so I should use that to talk to Sync. But often, "Hey Ford, Sirius Channel X" won't work.

I found a bit of an Easter Egg, if you say "F--k Off B---h!" it will respond "I won't respond to that>"

Don't waste hour time. Most of the voice commands do not work yet. Hopefully ford will do an update soon. All I want to do is control the fan speed! Other stuff would be cool too, but baby steps.

Doesn’t a short push of the voice control button talk to Ford Sync and a long press talk to your connected phone Assistant?

Whats been annoying me is every once in a while- someone on the radio will say "for" and the sync comes on. I will say "Hey Ford" and I get crickets!! WTF?!?!

I was driving home from work and listening to the latest episode of Windows Weekly, starting off with quarterly earnings results.

Paul Thurrott: "... They're gonna be okay for another quarter, at least..."

... pause ... Ford: "navigate to Arizona Quarter Horse Association, which result do you want?"

Haha, the car wants to visit other ponies. ??

Yes, this happens a lot. Maybe in some future enhancement, Ford's assistant will learn to filter out Ford's audio system.

I should be easy for audio processing to compare what it is playing with what it is hearing and only react to the differences. Basic same tech as noise canceling headphones. Subtract the microphone signal from the outgoing audio by shifting it 180 degrees out of phase and add them together. The difference is the people in the car.

I NEED it to work because I need to keep my eyes on the road and I cant even figure out how to turn on the radio when I am driving. It was a promised feature so they better get it to work great.

I mean, tell me if I'm wrong here but this doesn't seem like a big deal to me. Just turn off the phrase recognition, and use the button that's on the steering wheel.

Still extremely accessible but doesn't trigger randomly. If I can push a button to turn on cruise control I can certainly push a button to wake up voice commands ?‍♂

I didn't even know there was a feature that allowed you not to use the button. I will stick with the button. I just need to get used to waiting for the beep. Reading the manual now and apparently the correct phrase is "Hey Ford, set the station to Sirius Channel X" or "Hey Ford, set the station to 101.1 FM" ,

Well I can't speak for iphone, but I know for me with Android Auto, the button does not trigger Google assistant. It only triggers the Ford voice recognition

You press and hold for a second or two to trigger your phone instead of Ford.

As JohnnyForensic said, I have confirmed with my IPhone, quick push of the voice command button gives you Sync and longer hold of the voice command button gives you Apple Car Play. Didn't see this in the manual, so apparently, Forensic help was needed.

That’s exactly the way Sync has always worked since Sync 2. Nothing new there.

Not the case for sync 3. With AA or car play running, the internal nav and voice commands were disabled and the button would activate Google assistant or siri

I had to turn off the Hey Ford prompt. The radio and regular conversation was making it come on constantly.
