First off my phone was sweaty and didn’t realize it and my pictures suck! lol. First time seeing the gt in person. Looks much meaner and sportier than the standard Mach e! You can notice the slightly lower suspension! The gtpe also seems wider which I’m guessing is because of the lower stance and bigger tires. Lots of attention around both Mach e gtpe’s! Comments were either ”wow this thing is cool or “what a shame they put the mustang name in it”. I can’t wait for mine so I can show them what it can do!

Oh wow, correct me if I'm wrong, but is that finally a Dark Matter Grey sighting? It's so bright out I can't tell for sure, but it doesn't look black. It looks fantastic! (but what is with the AWD badge on the back?)
Yes. Must be European model.

Missed Connection 1:

Saw you driving your Premium 4X with Florida plates on southbound Woodward. Got to give you a thumbs up but couldn’t really say hello. Think yours was Carbonized Grey?

Missed Connection 2:

Saw you driving a Silver Mach-E. Too quick to tell your trim level. Looks like premium wheels and a cute dog in the window.

Possible, although the Ford rep standing next to the Cyber Orange GT PE didn't seem to think that was the case. He said the others might be at the the second Ford display up in Royal Oak (the one in the Instagram pics), but I didn't get a chance to check that out, unfortunately. I wish I had because I suspect that, with the F150 Lighting on display there as well, that's probably where most of Ford's EV experts were stationed.

So here are some thoughts after walking up and down Mustang Alley:
  • First and foremost, Mach-E participation was near zero. I kept hoping to see a section set aside for some dedicated Mach-E enthusiasts to display their vehicles, but alas, there was nothing. Other than the two GT PEs Ford had on display, I saw a total of three other Mach-Es. Two were charging in a lot near the Ford Performance area - I think they either belonged to Ford corporate or Ford employees working at the show. And one other one was parked way down by the East entrance in the "overflow" lot.

I am somewhat disappointed that with all the Mach-E cheerleading I see in this forum, there aren't any local folks eager to congregate and show off their machines. I understand that most Mach-E owners aren't necessarily traditional car hobbyists, and that they may not find immediate interest in mingling with owners of the V8 powered, gas guzzling variety of Mustangs. Still, I think that if we want to be accepted into the Mustang community, we need to get out there to represent and evangelize. It made me really regret that I didn't have my Mach-E yet. I look forward to being able to show it off next year. Hopefully with plenty of GTs being delivered by that time, there will be others who want to join me.

  • Ford had lots of their employees manning their display areas, including both PR folks and engineers. I spoke with a Ford engineer from the Ford Performance division who was standing near the Dark Matter Gray Mach-E GT PE. I didn't identify myself as a Mach-E buyer nor an EV driver; I just struck up a conversation and let him express his feelings. He was not completely sold on the Mach-E nor EVs in general. He seemed to be skeptical about Ford, the industry, and the country's transition away from combustion engines. I don't hold any of this against him - I think he just needs more time. Despite his stance, we did have a good conversation, and he dropped not so subtle hints that a Ford Performance version of the Mach-E was in the works, as are other Ford Performance EVs.

  • I stood near the each of the two GT PEs for a few minutes just to gauge reactions. As expected, comments from show goers about them were often negative. I didn't hear anything outrageous or over-the-top, but it's obvious that rabid Mustang fans aren't on board with the Mach-E as a Mustang. Nothing new there. However, I heard a lot of positive comments as well, and there were many people showing interest and asking the Ford representatives lots of questions. And people seem to love the way the GT looks in Cyber Orange.

  • Speaking of Cyber Orange, there are a lot of past Ford orange / yellow colors that are reminiscent of it. I saw lots of Mustangs in pale orange and orange-yellow hues, including a beautiful 1970 Boss 302 in what I believe was Grabber Orange as well as some later model Mustangs in light orange colors. So although it's a new color, it has a lot of heritage. I also stopped by the Bronco display area on my way out and saw a classic Bronco in a similar color.
What did other's who attended think?
We didn’t get out of the Mach-E. We did about 2 full laps of the 16 miles cruise course. One in the morning and the other in the afternoon. We noticed lots of people pointing and could hear some of them saying “Mach-E” or “electric Mustang”. I’d say about 95% of the comments we could hear we positive. Definitely lots of looks.

I did see another black Mach-E on display in Mustang alley. It was a regular Premium. On the route itself, and I drove it twice at different times, I saw just two Mach-Es the entire day. I did get a few amusing “rev the engine” comments. The three people knew what it was and it was all good-hearted fun. One young girl, how couldn’t have been more than 10 said “that’s an electric car”. Her parents are obviously bringing her up well.

No frunk divider! Or holes!
What are you basing this on? If it is just from looking at the picture of the DMG car above, note that it is EU-spec (AWD badge on back) not NA-spec.

Well that and the Munro live video where they said July on builds didn't have divider. This just solidified that I think.

Yes, we have heard that is the case but I'm waiting for first-hand info before I'm convinced.
