Well, at least it's a mystery to me, but my MME--on occasion--will do a single swipe of the windshield when I start-up. It only happens outside, it doesn't do so when I start the car in the garage. Even then, I haven't been able to figure out a pattern--sunny, overcast, third Sunday of the month, etc. As far as issues with the car, this is more mysterious than annoying.

Did you try saying "Swiper, no swiping?". Sorry, three kids and that will never leave my brain.

I have not RTFM but when I read my Mercedes Manual it stated that leaving the wipers in Auto may cause it to do a ghost wipe due to the angle of the sun on the sensor. After it does the ghost wipe it the realizes that its not moisture therefore it wont happen again.

Again, I have not RTFM for the MME so I am just speaking from experience with a completely different car.

Move the lever from automatic to off and that should solve your issue. (Down one position)

Yes, your wipers are likely in auto-wipe mode. I noticed this yesterday driving in thick fog and mist. Wipers would activate automatically and often right when I needed them to. As mentioned, down one position to the wiper off position.

Yes that is what I did last time I drove it as it did it twice since the 1.6.0 update on a dry windshield. Never did it until then but appeared to start soon after it?

I had thought about the auto wipers--and I suppose I should have tried to turn that off before posting. If that's it, I still can't determine the trigger to set it off (other than being outside), but I'll see if it does the trick.

That said, I've always liked rain sensing wipers. It almost never rains in southern california, which means I can actually forget how to active the wipers by myself when it rains. (OK, that's a bit of an exaggeration, but I do have to think a little about it.)

I think turning the wipers off should do it but have not tested that to any great extent. I had them at auto all the time also but experienced the same thing as you but just recently.

One click up and the thumb wheel for sensitivity. Auto headlights, sensing wipers, even my first thermostat feeling spoiled ?.

I occasionally get a phantom wipe when I start the car. It doesn't bother me. I prefer to leave the wipers in Auto.

My Fusion used to do this all the time when I would pull into my garage, no clue why. I think it’s a Ford thing.

Only once, when I was out of TP and had to use an old Sherlock Holmes book from the medicine cabinet shelf.

Wait, I should have read the post and not just the title... Never mind.
