LOL and us Americans use Imperial for almost everything but fasteners and medicine. I’d actually prefer we go back on the fasteners. I’ve seen too many counterfeit metric fasteners.
Haha see I just take the approach of randomly pulling sockets out of the set and if it fits it sits

I can see some logic to it - for someone hopping the border setting the speedometer to the local units is a must so you don't speed, but one might want the rest of the display (like temperature) to be in familiar units.
There's some sense in that, but temperature and distance-based measurements are already split out in Settings>General>Units (along with pressure). There's no reason this should be buried at the bottom of an entirely different tab.

Naah, the counterfeit metric fasteners are made of crappy material. They tend to be brittle and break or strip very easily. It’s not the fact that they’re metric, just that there seem to be orders of magnitude more counterfeits than in SAE or USS fasteners.

I believe this is because the UK requires the ability to have both metric and imperial options on their speedometers. As odd as it sounds, they actually use miles and mph on their roads.
This should clear things up with regards to Brit measuring units:

My car was delivered to the dealer in Metric mode. I thought it was just the menu but found it would change everything *except* the odometer. They reached out to Ford who told them that whoever configured the car (at factory) mistakenly put it in the wrong mode. They provided the dealer with instructions to reconfig the car back to Imperial miles since that's not a normal menu setting.
