Hello all!

Sorry if these topics have been discussed already but I wasn't able to find answers.
I ordered my Mach E premium in May, Production date was postponed 2 times and it shows now 11/8. I'm wondering if I will get it delivered before 2022, I'm in California. What do you think?

If it's not going to happen, I'm not sure about the tax rebates, can they be requested for 2021 taxes if I get the car let's say in Feb? I also read somewhere that people complained about the delay and Ford decreased the price to match some rebates, maybe I'm wrong...
Trying to contact them is awful and they cant help without a VIN number that I dont have yet... dealership is clueless as well.

I'm French so I'm not 100% aware of all the tax rules, thanks a lot for your help!

Slim chance you get it in 2021.

No. The vehicle has to be "purchased" in 2020 to use the credit on the taxes you would file in 2021.

Also, if you have a build date, you have a VIN.

Thank you! I have "Scheduled for Production" date but no "Built" date.
Should I complain about the delay and the fact that it would arrive in 2022? Free charging + $1000 cashback seems to be their answer...

I am not sure how far you would get on that , but it doesn’t hurt to ask. My car got postponed twice as well. My mom passed away before my production date, so she won‘t get the death ride she wanted. Ford wont give me any concessions (or even talk to me).

Sorry to read that mate... I'm sure you will have her on your mind and heart for your first ride!
Yes tbh, I was hesitant between Tesla and MachE, and their ordering process is just the worst. Dates get postponed without even an email... they throw the ball at each other between dealership and Ford... cmon, it's not a $100 purchase we are talking about.
The more I wait the more I get frustrated the more the cancellation option crosses my mind.
I might try and I'll let you know. If I even get to a chat because if you dont answer for 5sec after have waited for 20min to get connected, they would end the chat! they are a joke

If it is scheduled for production, you have a VIN.

You could try complaining, but your dealer would LOVE for you to cancel. Then they can take your order and charge over MSRP.

You do realize they actually want to sell you a car as soon as possible, right? The car might not get delivered in 2021, and if it doesn't and you're that upset you can walk away. Of course you'll still have the problem that the entire supply chain is a mess and whatever other car you choose will take time to get as well - Tesla is telling people March of next year right now. Unless you're lucky enough to find what you want on a dealer's lot, you are going to have to wait.

Not sure about getting disconnected from the call, but if you didn't answer they are clearly extremely busy and moved on. Had you gotten through there probably isn't much they could tell you anyway because - again - the supply chain and world in general is a holy mess right now. Frankly it will be a miracle if the economy doesn't have a major issue in the next few months.

Be as reasonable as you want to be, and vent here all you want - but don't expect a huge amount of sympathy about your being upset that your luxury item might not be delivered in time for you to collect $7500 in April 2022 instead of April 2023.

Yes most definitely, I'm not trying to cancel yet but yes I know they would want to have my car sitting in the lot and apply their own price. I also looked into the list of dealerships that are not applying markups. But I know I'll have to deal with last minute surprise and their "document fees" or whatever they can get out of me before releasing the car.

Havent been able to locate my VIN, I tried this https://seg.fyi/mache-vin/index.html#/findvin but I'm on my phone... will try from the computer whenever I can.

Thanks for your feedback. Here are my answers:
My issue is not with the delay but the lack of communication and transparency. Also, yes they want to sell a car, doing it well is another story...
For the Tesla, I wouldnt have bought a brand new one anyway. But my bro in law did it 3 weeks ago and he should get it in Feb, his friend had to wait only a month. They give late ETA on purpose but it arrives earlier, which I guess is the way to go... and from now to March is 6 months, which is pretty much what I have already waited for for the Mach-E. Which again is not my issue.

I believe they would be less busy if they were communicating better and if the dealerships knew anything. I agree about the economy and I'm aware, it doesnt excuse the fact that each production date is a surprise when you randomly check your order and see "oh postponed again"... no email? come on...

Luxury item, exactly, deserves a better process, don't you think? Not even mentioning all the issues popping here and there and all the improvements they are supposedly making for the 2022 model which obviously make you consider your purchase again.

Tax: that's my point... will the rebates, knowing these are limited time benefit, still be available in 1 year? It's one of their selling points, so I'm concerned about them. And I apologize again if I dont get the tax part right. There is up to 7.5k and 2k state credit. Which one can run out? So this is where a few weeks can make a difference, if we were in May and I had a few months before the end of the year, I wouldnt be asking questions and I'd be waiting..

Thanks a lot

The federal $7500 is based on unit volume sold. Ford started 2021 at around 127,000 BEV's sold in the US and is at most at 150,000 right now. The full $7500 will be available to any FORD BEV bought before the end of the quarter AFTER the quarter i which they hit 200,000 BEV sold IN THE US. If that happens on January 3rd 2022, any Ford BEV bought BEFORE July 1st 2022 will be eligible for the full $7500 incentive. Any Ford BEV bought between July 1 2022 and Dec 31 2022 will be eligible for $3750, and from Jan 1 2023 to June 30 2023 the available rebate will be $1875.

Tesla and GM are already done, and there is zero chance that any of this is changing any time soon.

As for how much communication Ford owes you, well.....

Yes, if you've been paying attention to congress. There's no chance much of what is proposed will get passed; they can barely agree to pay the debt that has already been accrued.

I'm not saying it's likely. But a statistical impossibility?

Thanks a lot! This answers my question about the taxes.
