I drove down to LA for the thanksgiving holiday from the SF bay area and used the fordpass charging network at electrify america at 3 locations and used plug and charge, which worked flawlessly for me. However when I did look at the receipts that ford sent me I found that I was charged a $18.06 session fee at one of the locations, in addition to using up 42Kwh from the 500Kwh credits from ford.

This was at the Harris Ranch EA location in Coalinga CA and was 2nd of the 3 locations that I stopped at. I began charging at 35% and ended charging at 89% and promptly drove away as soon as I stopped charging. So there was no idling involved here.

I called up ford customer service to inquire about this charge and after I got transferred to 4 different folks over a 1:15 minute period, the only thing they could do was open an internal ticket to research further. Ford customer service folks need to be better trained and provided the tools to handle such inquiries.

Does anyone know why this 18.06 fee was charged? And did any you encounter anything similar ?

It would only make sense if you had exhausted your charging credits. Have you checked your balance?

Did this, by chance, happen to occur yesterday (Nov 28th) during the maintenance window?

What I *thought* I understood was that it would not be possible to set up a new plug & charge account while the maintenance was being performed, but existing plug & charge accounts would work.

But I ask the question about timing because it makes me wonder if Ford's maintenance resulted in it not being able to check your balance.

Would not matter anyways, all EA locations were free this weekend...

Was the charge from Ford or was it from EA? I know a few people have had issues where EA changed them incorrectly and they were able to get a refund from them.

It was from ford. I did attach the email receipt email ford sent me for this charging session to the prior post I did,

Interesting that the last line shows you with a 400 kWh balance remaining (surprised that it is 400 ... on the dot). So clearly they could see that you have charging credit.

It is sometimes confusing when I get their receipts because it shows what the session *would* have cost ... but subtracts from my balance and doesn't charge my credit card (I've checked). When you check your payment card ... do you find a matching $18.06 charge on it? I'm wondering if, like me, they've shown you how much you *would* have paid ... but did not actually charge your credit card.

The operator is EA, call them and inquire why you were charged $18 bucks. I don't think trying to go through Ford is going to do you any good.

A similar thing happened to me on 11/21, got a receipt showing I was charged even though I had a balance of 407 kWh. However I noticed that it did not actually decrease my remaining kWh, just charged me for the session.

EA was free for four days straight. It expired on midnight 11/28. I also took a trip and relied solely on EA and it cost me nothing. When i plugged in, some units showed they were charging but to an entity called Free. BTW, i never activated that FordPass plug-and-charge so they dont know my credit card.

I called up EA and they asked me to contact ford :) The only way EA customer service will be able to trace is, if I have a session id or a station id and I have neither of these with me.

So your previous receipt showed a balance of 442 kWh?

My previous receipt showed:

Energy: 16.00 kWh
Session fee*: $0.00
Tax: $0.00
TOTAL: $0.00

Total kWh Used: 16.00 kWh
New Balance: 407.00 kWh

Then the receipt with a charge showed:

Energy: 40.00 kWh
Session fee*: $17.20
Tax: $0.00
TOTAL: $17.20

Total kWh Used: 40.00 kWh
New Balance: 407.00 kWh

Both say there was kWh used but only one actually deducted from my balance.
