DANGIT, Hopefully insurance addresses as a comp claim and not collision.

Well, I damaged the garage door as well. My deductible is $500. BTW, the glass costs $1,398. At least, when the car goes in, I can get all the recall work done.

I had mine replaced early on due to a rock. (or spontaneous cracking more likely), but insurance covered and Ford sent a new one within a week or so. Once replaced, you can never tell it happened.

sorry that happened, but what if you had a steel roof and this happened? would there be any damage then?

Good question. I think so, as it would be bent at the place where the glass cracked. Then paint, etc. Actually, the glass is probably better.

Update on the roof glass issue. It's taken almost three months for the body shop I chose to have availability. The windshield came out first and its bonding material (like caulk) came off easily. No issues. The new bonding material goes on after the surface has been roughed up a bit. This seems to be an issue with some F-150s as well.
Next to come out was the headliner. This made me ill just to think about it. Anyway, the headliner comes out through the windshield opening. Not through the back!
The roof glass came out in one piece. which was a relief. The factory fix for the roof was to remove the headliner and place some foam inserts around the glass and coat them with something. The glass was not to be removed. The body shop is now conferring with FoMoCo to see if they need to do the foam insert now that the glass has been reinstalled. They'll rough up the metal area and prime it prior to installing the bonding.
Meanwhile, the MME is having a conniption with a bunch of sensors disconnected.
Once this is all done, it'll go next door to the Ford dealer for all the computer updates. Then a nice warm bath.

Glad to hear fixes are happening, but these supply chain interruptions are a huge bummer. Did you get to drive the car for those three months, or was it deemed unsafe to operate?

I could drive it. It just had big cracks in the roof. It should be done on Tuesday. I’m driving a rented 4 banger Chevy. Really miss the MME.

Do they replace the glass in the recall or is it just seals? If the recall involves replacing the glass I wonder if all of this could be done under that without having to pay the insurance deductible?

They don’t replace the roof glass as part of the recall. They don’t even remove it.

Yes. I work in a collision shop and this happens more often than you'd think.

Don't feel too bad Norm, you're not the first and certainly won't be the last. Hopefully they get you back good as new.
