Personally Mark, I actually believe they will. It won’t be everyone, but it won’t be a limited rollout to a handful just to say they met the deadline.
I agree. Look at the frequency of recent updates (based on first post here):
2/9 2.4.1
1/7 2.3.0
12/13 2.1.0

Sounds like they are coming around the start of each month.
3/7 maybe?
3/17 and comes with a Leprechaun?

yet, many of us, like myself, have received none of these. it's just an awful OTA distribution in my opinion. all over the place...

If you have received none of them I suspect a module required for updating is not working. It sounds like you need to have updates run by the dealer to fix that. Do a search on the issues list to see what update that would be.

Job 2 cars aren't getting any of these yet. Patience.

It'll be funny and absolutely perfect if your car is the first to be OTA BlueCruise enabled. ?

That's right. I forgot @agoldman traded his FE for a GT.

@agoldman: These updates are getting our software caught up with what you already have. Now if you want regression therapy ...

The way the OTA updates work, they install much faster than the FDRS method. The OTA process most likely won't be running the coolant pumps during the update as well which is the main power draw during FDRS updates.

For instance, we've seen some TCU OTA's that have installed pretty quickly, like around 15-30 minutes for the whole process. But I did a TCU update on my brothers escape over the weekend that took almost 4 hours hooked up to the laptop. That OBD connection is a huge bottleneck.
Cool! Thanks for that additional insight. I’ve always known that the OBD II connection is slow (I believe 512 kbps). What I’ve never understood is why manufacturers don’t just either:
  • Drop in an Ethernet port for updates (via FDRS)
  • Connect FDRS via a dedicated USB port
  • Put in a dedicated wireless chipset and connect FDRS via w closed dealer ship wireless FDRS LAN
Seems like almost anything would be more efficient than using the OBD II connector.

Old guard, old connection?

What I really don’t get is why, a decade ago, was I able to update my sync system with a thumb drive and now on a newer system I can’t. I get they are different systems, but it makes no sense.

He only said foolproof. He didn't go as far as idiot-proof.
As for me, I'm leaving FDRS to others!
I’m just idiot enough to seriously consider doing it. I’m also smart enough to realize who the idiot is that is considering doing FRDS updates. This is called a perpetual stress machine. ;)

At least if a dealer messes it up I don’t have myself to blame

I'd love to be in the front of the Early Access PowerUp pack. Unfortunately I'm about 1-2 back from the lead.

That's it. Only the guy who tried to install it did so on a GT for some reason.

I can confirm that it's available on 5 - job1 VINs that I ran so all job1 should have it available.

What it does ... IDK because I don't have a job1.
My Job 1 car doesn't have the BlueCruise Prep listed as an available programmable feature. The 2.4.1 OTA update failed to install when it was queued a couple of days ago. Maybe that's a prerequisite?
