I've placed an order for MME Premium Rapid Red, back in August 2021. In the month of Nov, I've upgraded my order to a GT Cyber orange. The dealership, instead of upgrading my order, placed a new order without notifying me and lied to me that they upgraded it. Last month, when I contacted Ford Customer service for an update, they said I have two orders placed on my name and gave me a VIN for my first order (Premium Rapid Red) and it is on its way to the dealership.

When I reached out to the dealership, said they ordered 2 cars for me in August mistakenly (submitted twice) and one of them was upgraded to GT and Premium is arriving to the dealership on my name but it is for another customer. I'm disappointed after waiting for 8 months, I do not have my car scheduled yet (GT) and my old order is for someone else. How in 2022, customers are still getting cheated this way?

What should I do next?

@RickMachE - thoughts??

Do you want the Premium? If not, just wait for the GT. You can look for a cancelled order somewhere else in the meantime, but those usually have an ADM.

I want a GT, the other thing is, the dealership is selling it for a new price for me. I reserved one back in August when prices are $2K less.

I understand you are frustrated with your delay but you are not being cheated. You changed your order to a GT and it is still in place. Your dealer is taking advantage of your original order. Probably sell it with a mark up but when a dealer sells a customer order to someone other than the customer who ordered it can have negative impacts on future allocations. I guess you could demand the Mach that is arriving soon if you are willing to settle for the Premium model. Your dealer would just end up with the GT to sell later on. Really your choice at this point. Probably get your dealer in a bad spot if you insisted on keeping the original order though. No mater what they are not cheating you - they are just playing the allocation game. As hard as it is and frustrating to us who order a vehicle it can be equally frustrating to the dealer. Might be a good time to contact them and ensure your GT order is price protected and get it in writing if you have not done so already.

@AKgrampy thanks for the detailed response. I've reached out to the dealer about the Premium, they say it is coming on my name but someone else bought it already.
I spoke about the price protection, I have a verbal confirmation that the price is protected but they are not clear, talks some rubbish.

You can maybe force them to sell you both, but it's pretty doubtful you make much flipping the Premium after you pay tax, registration, etc. since you can only claim one tax credit in a year. Now if you want to take delivery of the Premium, drive it until your GT arrives, then sell it at break even or a slight loss more power to you. If you want to go that route you need to be very clear right now that you plan to take delivery of the Premium and probably get Ford involved.

I don't want another customer like me to get disappointed if I insist on Premium. My frustration is that I do not have one after waiting for 8 mo and the dealer lied to me at every step + want to get $2K extra. Dealers are terrible.

Whoever told you that was incorrect.
I stand corrected, it does look like it's only limited by federal tax liability. So if they expect to have more than $7,500 in fed tax liability this year even more reason to take delivery of the Premium.

I'd go in to the dealership and say you are either taking delivery of the Premium (and also the GT whenever it comes) or you want it in writing & signed that you get the GT at 2021 prices. Ford has been really cracking down on dealers selling orders to people other than those on the order so it's likely you can be successful getting one of the two options if you involve Ford about them not giving you delivery of your order.

There is a letter somewhere in another thread that spells out price protection. I hate confrontation but if the order is still in your name then you may be at least able to twist their arms a bit to ensure you get the pre 12/8 selling price. They are not harmed at all as Ford gives them a credit equal to the reduction in price to you. Only issue is they have to do a little bit of paperwork to verify the orderer is the purchaser. I do not understand why any dealers push back on this. Most do not but I think if it is in writing in advance it will just eliminate any potential frustration when the car arrives. My wife is the office manager at our local Ford dealer and I still went in and spoke with the sales manager about it just to be sure. I hope you get the car you want at the protected price!

You should take the premium I got a GT and the extra horsepower is no use since it drags your battery so much and after a couple uses it’s limited the power of the vehicle. The premium is the perfect build that has all the toys certainly enough speed and decent range. I traded for one And have another on order
Your dealer did cart wheels when you ordered another and he was able to seize the premium

Try and get it back at the lower price you’ll be happy as hell

I can’t speak to the dealer trying to increase your GT reservation price, it seems like you need to bitch with the GM. It should be price protected.

I see nothing wrong with the dealer deciding to keep the August order date for the Red Premium and taking it for themselves. Maybe Ford wouldn’t have build it without a ā€œcustomer orderā€. The Premium is not your car, you cancelled the order by updating it in November.
