Anyone here on the forum equipped with what's needed in order to do a bunch of updates to the car via FDRS and is in the NC/SC area? Would love to get the charging curve improvements done in the next week or two prior to some longer trips, but right now my dealer is crazy backed up with their EV Tech to do it themselves.

Would be willing to compensate whoever could help.

Thanks @MustThee?. That's who my appointment is with and it doesn't inspire much confidence. I think I'll end up doing this myself and taking the plunge on all the equipment.

@nmundo how did thing go for you?

Kevin, I was able to setup a schedule today and saw a message in fordpass app that an update was downloaded but of course the app can’t show the details. so I will check again the update message in the car tomorrow morning to see if anything changed. I know people had talked about driving a bit before things catch up so let’s see.

So I can’t tell if anything changed. The sync software version is still the same 21008_Product revision 252. System up to date still showing. And now I saw two errors. One it started with PAAK but when I turned it off, it said “restart now or key is needed”. never had PAAK issues before. Car turned off but main screen stayed on, and I could not start it back up. I got the fob and was able to start it, saw no errors but when turning off, it said “park aid system fault”.

so basically more problems than fixes.

Update, now i saw a message in the car (not the app) that software update for FordPower Up 1.7.1 has been completed. But I see no changes (like the notes app). The Sync version now is blank. And the widget shows the update is pending now for tonight. Each day it changes to tonight. So maybe it just needs to complete.

I would like to get my car done as well. Still stuck with the broken 1.7.1 update from last Oct. :( I also bought the car from Town & Country, but have heard from others that they can't seem to get updates done right :( I thought about seeing if Hilbish Ford can do these updates.

I also thought about doing the updates myself, but pretty sure the other half would kill me if I messed the car up.

Thanks,

Ken~

I purchased my MME from Tindol Ford (Uriah Jackson - my sales contact) in nearby Gastonia, NC and had a great purchase experience. They did make sure everything was updated for delivery. All my other service (including updates) has been with Jim Hudson Ford in Lexington SC. You may want to give them a go. Good luck!

Just looked and that is a 2hr drive from me. Very tempting, but would have to figure out how to be able to leave the car there for a few days while they do all the updates. Were they able to get your Mach-e updated to have BC..?

Thanks,

Ken~

No BC in the cards for me yet. I have a Job 1 build (March 2021) and did not pay the additional $600 for BC (yet). Since I have the option I'm waiting to see how it evolves. All updates to the date of sale (July 2021) to me were done by Tindol. All subsequent updates have been done (successfully) by my local SC dealer. My Tindol purchasing experience was very positive with no unpleasant surprises. Thus my recommendation.

@ElectrifyCLT did you end up doing this yourself? I would possibly be willing to go in on it if that means I can get all my updates done. Been stuck on 1.7.1 since Oct.

I do plan on getting in touch with T&C dealership again to see if they have gotten any better with updates.

Thanks,

Ken~

@kmusk01 @MustThee? I ended up taking the plunge myself. I bought the Mongoose adapter, a high end battery tender, and a 48hour FDRS license on my gaming desktop that lives in my garage basement. I did 10/11 module updates available with exception the CCM (Camera Control Module). It got me the faster charging curve above 80% and a bunch of other things (different brake modulation/regen behavior). I didn’t bite on the CCM since I already have BlueCruise and have no concerns, I didn’t want to take a risk and end up accidentally moving backwards.

I experienced zero issues throughout the process.

Happy to coordinate in the DMs if you want to leverage my setup. I’d use the same general rules as others have here:

1: I’ll help you get setup and running, but when it comes to touching your car or pressing the buttons in FDRS, it’s your responsibility and you bear all risk on your own. Obviously I’d be there the whole time to help and guide you, but it’s your car and your update to execute.
2: Do your diligence before hand. One thing I have not done with these updates is BlueCruise and/or any live driving Camera Calibrations. If any of that is required you’d likely need to bring your own PC Laptop with you.

Hello @Mach-e4x, I'm not a lawyer, so please check your own laws to ensure you're properly educated. That said, my understanding is no, this does not void your warranty. Ultimately you're simply applying updated software that was made available by Ford with a Ford Software tool.

Now, should something go totally sideways and you can't pull yourself back out of it, I don't think that Ford would necessarily be required to get you back to stable footing free of charge. Similar to how a botched repair at an independent repair shop doesn't suddenly become free warranty work if the independent shop screws up.
