I would have absolutely kept my Premium order. The only reason I switched to FE during Machdrop (now known as the Machflop) was to get it sooner (in 2020 for an additional state tax credit that would have paid for the entire price difference... until they later made the price difference $3600).

I couldn't care less what they named it. It was entirely about delivery timing for me (where up until last week all info suggested FEs being first 3 weeks of MP2).
Same for me. I ordered the FE during the Drop assuming that it would be among the “FIRST” cars produced and would better my chances for a tax credit this year. “Dropping the MachDrop” will help offset that loss. Besides, for $3,600, I can have the calipers painted red and still put some money back in my pocket. My opinion...

I am in agreement with most people here. I ordered the FE because I thought it would be delivered first and I was already waiting a year for the car. I didn't want to worry about having to wait additional months for a premium, I thought at the time. Plus, the price difference was not much.

Now, the price difference is larger *and* delivery date is based on region, not trim. So, what am I getting for the extra money? A few cosmetic changes and a color exclusive to the FE. Not a lot, in my opinion.

I keep hoping Ford will throw the FE buyers an additional bone, like free software updates for life or at least the hands free driving upgrade for free. I'm holding out a bit longer for something to come along.

I think you have actually described it properly. I think the First Edition will still be "among" the first cars produced and delivered -- just not the very first.

Why is buying a car so difficult.
Because Apple makes more on a phone that’s replaced every 1.5yrs than an OEM makes on a car every 7. And they have 10x the competition with 1/3 the year-over-year difference, and 2x the complexity. And the margins are so slim, that it becomes a game of inches and everything has to become an opportunity to get a few more $ than the guy trying to put you out of business.

In retrospect, I would have ordered the Premium rather than the FE. On the order date, the price difference was only $1,600 and I bought into the "built first" mantra. I stuck with it when the price differential changed to $3,600, but getting the "first" cars and getting the credit this year persuaded me to stay the course. Now, it looks like I would have gotten the Premium at the exact same time, paid less and had much better color choices. Now I don't want to get pushed back in the schedule given timing considerations on my existing vehicles. Oh well, the fate of the early adopter.

That pretty much sums it up.

100% this. I really was just hoping for a quicker delivery mostly for tax purposes. I'm glad I can get Grabber Blue but I don't think it is worth the price difference.
Yep. I was willing to pay a net +$100 for red calipers, which is what it would have been with a 2020 delivery (+$1600 for FE - $1500 CO tax credit).

Now it's looking like +$3600 for red calipers, and maybe even delivery AFTER my original Premium (that Ford canceled without my OK). So I don't even have the option to fall back to my original Premium now like I wish I could. I'd have to start entirely over, which probably means another 6-12 month delay. Basically at their mercy now.

I suppose it's ultimately my fault for putting too much faith in insider info from here. (In addition to MachDrop continuing to be the gift that keeps on screwing.)

Normally it's not difficult. It's just that Ford are making it difficult for us to buy the MME
I'm not blaming Ford. 2020 and Covid.

And even that likely has more to do with the fact that the bulk of the FEs were reserved within a week of the reveal, not necessarily because they’re FEs.

There’s a bit of a chicken and egg there. They were called First Edition, leading buyers to assume they would be among the first to come out. They sold those out quickly, so they have priority time stamps. It becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy, doesn’t it?

And that would have been fine until they came up with the great idea of Mach Drop . . . . . . . .
