Mach-E Looking at Distance to Car to Left instead of to Car Ahead (Videos Added)

Not sure what the trigger was for the change (an update, a car wash, etc), buf for the last week or so my job 2 21 P MME has become borderline undriveable due to Pre-Collision Assist warnings. I’ve toggled the sensitivity to low but it is still ultra sensitive whenever I am remotely close to the car ahead.

Issue: MachE detects the car in the left lane as the car in front of the MachE.
Symptoms:

• BlueCruise does not slow down when car ahead slows below set MPH speed
• Pre-Collision Assist is erratic and goes off frequently for oncoming traffic or when traffic on left lane is slower than current lane
• Driver screen does not accurately show distance to the car in front in current lane, instead sometimes showing distance to car in front on the left lane

Evidence: See videos, and please for the love of God, ignore the mosquito splatter on the windshield. It was a long roadtrip through Florida.

Has anyone else experienced this? Was disappointed not to find others having this issue after a search. Hoping there is no hardware issue.

This behavior started since or shortly after receiving 22-PU0727-VI-FXB

10/5 Update: Car is back to being erratic with distance detection and Pre-Collision Assist. The issue was never resolved, I just hadn't driven in traffic. Added more description, changed title, and added videos.

UPDATE: Car seems to be back to normal after a couple days of alerts every few hundred yards.

Didn’t find the option that @portlandg smartly suggested of turning off Pre-Collision Alerts, but I did toggle emergency breaking off and on. Not sure if that was the fix or if there was something else going on. Let’s hope it stays fixed.

EDIT: The above update is incorrect. Sadly.

Not at all. My camera just randomly went out. I would get pre collision unavailable messages and a front camera fault. Eventually the camera went out all together. Been in the shop for two weeks with no fix. It looks like your camera may need to be realigned.

Got it. Is it the same camera that is used for parking though? Because it looks pretty straight on.

OP, from what I see in your videos you probably need your cruise radar realigned or replaced. You might have tweaked it if the front end got caught on something or you hit a pothole.

Bumper cover needs to come off and the radar module needs to be checked for angle and plumb. Correct/replace as necessary and recalibrate cruise radar.

Thanks for the response. Sounds like this involves a dealer visit. Which I dread because there is a chance they do more harm than good.

Final Update: Got the Pre-Collision Assist Not Available message. Will move further updates to the appropriate thread.

OP has a B142E horizontal alignment code now for the cruise control radar, the radar module is likely out of alignment or damaged as initially suspected.
