I just got 3.5.3 today and have the AC button now. So when AC is off does that mean heat is on? Or just fan?

Not necessarily. There’s a separate button for E-Heat. The A/C button has always existed, they just moved it to the main screen.

I just wondered since it said when you want heat or ac you want it now. E-heat isnt really the heat button though its just how the heat is circulated right? Because e-heat comes on with AC on as well.

Yes, an A/C button after summer is over - just in time. The heat button is due in March.

E-Heat is the resistive heater. If the button is on, it’s allowed to run. If the button is off, E-Heat is prohibited from running.

I never understood how does the car hear without e heat? Usually e heat refers to emergency backup resistive heat in lieu of a heat pump which is assume to have failed or not be effective in sub freezing temperatures.

I just went out to the car and nothing appears to be different. I think the update has not fully applied in my car because the update "check" has not appeared. But I did get the FP notice. When I drive home later, maybe it will show up.

It doesn't. The description that Ford provides makes it sound like it does, but in reality, E-Heat is the only heat you get.

They didn't move the E-Heat button. It's just the A/C button that they moved to the main screen.

I just went out to check, I have the check, update details in car, there is no heat button, no noticeable UI changes.

but a few days ago, I got 3.5.3. The next day I got a notice that Alexa was available and I went out to find I had Alexa, the new HVAC controls, video streaming…. All the stuff described in these release notes.

Also, more weird than that - the last update I got prior to 3.5.3 was the priority update for the EVGo thing. I never got 3.5.2 before or 3.5.3.3 afterward.

(Also never got any of the 3.3 updates that seem to be the same thing as the 3.5 series, but an earlier version - presumably for an initial test run to iron out the bugs kinda like what they did with the BlueCruise OTA rollout).

If you got Priority Update 22-PU0727-VI-FXB recently that may replace needing 3.5.2. I think the 3.3 updates were EA only and were revised into the current series as you say.

AC has been on my main screen since at least 3.5.2 (maybe earlier?).

I find the MME's climate controls really confusing and awkward. I don't know why AC gets a place on the main screen while e-heat is only on the climate screen. E-heat almost always seems to be on by default, even when it's like 80 degrees outside. I'm not even sure why it's not just called "heat"? I'm embarrassed to admit that I don't understand the "Front" heading at the top of the climate screen. Is there a separate screen that I haven't found for "Rear"? I don't understand why "Auto" (on the main screen) cycles through three settings, but will not cycle to "off" even though "off" is possible. The seat heater has three heat settings and even has the traditional three little "lights" below the seat icon, but pressing it produces a clumsy slider rather than just cycling through the settings. The temperature adjuster also gives you a slider, but it seems way harder to use compared to just tapping the + or - buttons a few times. Touchscreen sliders seem pretty awkward for these applications. Anyway, I'm sure there's logic behind all of these but I don't find them intuitive at all. As the "gadget guy" in our house, it's pretty embarrassing trying to make sense of these for my wife.
