Love people complaining about updates but refusing to install updates that could fix issues. Maybe just stay away from technology.
I don't want updates, so I don't install updates. Problem solved. As I said, my car has no issues to fix. You seem to be offended that I am happy with my car and need no updates. Try to get over it.

BeiDou is used in China. It's a government requirement.
... butI thought Beidou is a search engine? No? ... I meant what satellites they use for Nav? still the GPS? .... or the Russia's Glonass?

But that doesn't seem reasonable. Can't we have technology without the need for constant updates?

Allowing updates feels like gambling but without a payout if we win. If we are lucky, the update doesn't break anything and rarely adds anything useful. If we are unlucky, we have all sorts of undesirable consequences from the update. This recent 3.5.2 (and presumably 3.5.3) are riddled with consequences and absolutely zero value added to our vehicles.

Any sensible person will step away from the Blackjack table after being dealt so many bad hands in a row. The promise of winning back all our losses in a single hand is a fool's wish IMO.

I rolled the dice on 3.5.2 and it came up snake eyes. Have tapped out for a while because I don't have much more left that I feel comfortable loosing. I doubt we are ever going to gain back the preferred off center lane tracking or priority phone pairing features in a future update.

If I leave my car unlocked and someone comes by and steals something from it then I should share the blame for leaving it accessible. Ford is stealing features from my car, mostly by incompetence but some of the items are removed intentionally and that doesn't feel right. I feel violated in some ways and that usually motivates me to try and protect myself any my property. Not accepting future updates is our only way to avoid being violated so that is why some of us have had enough.

I do not accept the idea that software updates should have consequences. They should never ever ever break things that are already working. Add features? Okay fine. Go ahead but don't wreck what is already there. If people accept this sort of treatment then the manufacturers will lower their standards to match. Which is exactly what is happening here.

Software hasn't shipped completed since maybe the early 2000s?. Video games are hardly completed when they ship. Majority of them have DAY ONE patches that you have to download. It's just the nature of the game now is all I'm saying.

No we can't. What we can have though are updates without progress. ;)

I used to beta test video games back when that was a real thing. Remember when publishers actually fixed bugs in games before releasing the game? Yeah, me neither.
Ford Mustang Mach-E New Power-Up - 3.5.4.2 pepridge farms

Just got this a few minutes ago. I guess they were waiting for me to accept the new EAP Ts&Cs?
Oh, no frunk button in FordPass (obligatory comment)
Likewise it seems. Odd thing though Jim -- I don't have a frunk button either. I'm sure it was just an oversight. ;)

So far the predominant feature of 3.5.4.2 seems to be the total destruction of CarPlay as an available feature:

Far worse than the issues I had with CarPlay and 3.5.3.3 or 3.5.4, or whatever it was. Or perhaps the latest just Unleashed the power and might of the earlier update.

I’ve found plugging into USB for a little bit fixes the wireless CarPlay handshake sometimes, then I unplug and it still works

As much as I thought the addition Of a profile would help get me out of guest profile hell, I was wrong. Today I left the car , after all being well and game back to a guest profile. Car play did work and a resync solved all the problems, for now.

I am on 3.5.4

curious, does 3.5.4.2 help on profile issue but disconnect Car Play?

It may also be a search engine, but BeiDou is China's GNSS. Europe has Galileo, US has GPS, Russia has GLONASS. Japan has a correction system called QZSS, but it is not a full fledged GNSS like the others.

Okay yes. Perfect examples. So, the software is functional when released and then more features, options or choices are added later via patch or update. That seems reasonable and people are okay with that. Basically, we don't know what we are missing since it's not there. All well and good IMO. Day One updates are also acceptable and appreciated IMO.

This isn't what we are experiencing with our cars though. My primary complaint and source of dissatisfaction is that Ford is being way too sloppy with their OTAs. They can certainly do better but they won't and the reason is that people are accepting this sort of treatment.

Proof is that none of the critical systems are ever affected by OTAs. Just the infotainment and convenience features. This obviously means they are being diligent with that part of the software and cavalier with the rest of it. We should not accept this from Ford. Updates should not take away features and break stuff. That is what I am most annoyed by.

I am thankful that my car has always worked though. The infotainment and other convenience features not being reliable is disturbing but not the end of the world. If that ever changes, meaning if Ford does something stupid and bricks my car via OTA then I will likely go over the edge and get rid of the car. Seriously. I can handle the occasional mechanical failure. Flat tires, dead 12v batteries, bad pumps, switches, sensors etc. But a software update that renders the vehicle unusable just because they are lazy is inexcusable. Let's hope that day never comes for any of us.

On a serious note I complained one pedal turned off, well today my wife went off shopping and came back it three minutes. Said one pedal was off and she didn't like that:p. I showed her how to turn it on and it happened two more times while she was out. Seems to be good now but I'll test as I leave from now on. Hope they get this fixed soon.

Must be frustrating. Especially if you are a regular CarPlay user.

It is, I am, and I’d turn automatic updates off again but so far in the 3.5.something series that hasn’t mattered one iota in my car. And apparently the car now thinks it has to charge outside the preferred hours to get from 75% to 80% in the 4 hour window off peak charge period I’ve set (9 am though 5 pm is off peak here). On a 32 amp evse. ?‍♂
