We use gravel up here instead of salt, and I've already taken a few cracks from rocks. My insurance does cover repairs, though. Just takes a month to get in.
I shouldn’t say anything but my Mach is the first car I have had in a long time that has made it through an Alaskan summer without a crack or chip! I hope I did not jinx myself! I do know DOT has started using salt at intersections versus gravel a bit more the last couple of years.

Ha, nice to see another person in Fairbanks. I've seen a white one and a black one around town. Black one wouldn't happen to be yours would it?

So far I've gotten one crack, and I have quite a few chips that can't be repaired. All in the span of 3 months...

Mine is red. There is also another Grabber Blue and anther Rapid Red. I have also seen a light blue one too. But not too many. I am not sure yet if Seekins opted into being a Certified EV dealer or not.

Certain freeways in the Valley are notorious for cracking/chipping windshields. I-17 and Loop 101 (specifically the E-W section N of Phoenix) come to mind. I used to drive from Glendale to Scottsdale for work and went through three windshields in about a year and a half.
That said, the big chip in my MME windshield happened on I-10 near the tunnel. ?‍♂

Loop 202 in Chandler for me this time. US 60 near my house in Apache Junction the first time. So it’s happening all over the valley. :)

I don't believe they are yet. They do have a single EV tech, though. If I see a red Mach-E floating around I'll give a wave. Sometimes I charge at GVEA, because I currently only have 120v charging at home.

No way to get 240V? FLO is over twice the cost!

By the way I stopped by a local windshield repair shop to have the chip filled and hopefully delay spider crack development. The tech told me mine was the third Mach-E he had seen for cracked or shipped windshield since Thanksgiving.
I’ve been convinced for a long time that the windshield is delicate.

In 27 yrs of driving…… never had a windshield crack.

Mine cracked from a tiny pebble maybe the 5th time on the highway.

My guess is the same stuff that makes it super quiet, energy efficient and able for intelligent cruise control…….. makes it weak.

The Flo charger works out to $0.276/kWh ($15.75 / 57kWh), considering charging efficiency losses with L2 charging (10%) you actually pay less there. I use it in-between charging at home/work. I have a Grizzl-E charger at home waiting to be installed, I'm just waiting for the Romex to come in. This is getting kinda off topic though so I'm gonna stop talking about it here.

That is a good rate! Never went there but I saw a posted GVEA rate on the Alaska Energy Authority site of 60 cents per kWh. That must have been erroneous. Well at least for the one at GVEA. The others down by Healy and Cantwell are 60 cents per kWh.

Imo the windshield should be on recall. Mines got a big line from a rock going low speed a few months after I got the car. And seeing as though so many others have had crack ford should replace them all.

Just had my windshield crack today from a pretty small rock that hit it on the highway. The crack is only 3/8" or so wide, but unfortunately it's right smack in the middle of my line of sight when driving. Annoying...
