Having a terrible issue with a damaged windshield and could use some concrete help / advice. Especially if anyone from Ford monitors this forum. Thanks.

What extra advice are you expecting on here from Ford?

If you feel that your chosen service department isn't providing the support you reasonably expect, you could call Ford or send a private message to @Ford Motor Company and they'll assist with escalation if appropriate.

Reading your original post in the other thread, it doesn't seem like anything is out of the ordinary here. Your glass was damaged by a road hazard and now needs replacement. Whether you can safely operate this vehicle with a cracked windshield until a replacement part arrives (which could be days or possibly weeks from now) is up to you to determine.

So far everyone who's replied has pointed me to Safelite. It seems most dealers refer their glass business there, as does my insurance company. But Safelite doesn't have the parts in stock. At least that's what I was told today. So the advice I'd like from Ford is when parts will be available, and / or whether there are other options for getting a replacement. Also, I learned tonight that it's illegal to operate an auto in California with a cracked windshield, so I'm looking for answers here.

Rent a vehicle? You could ask USAA for guidance, as your available options may depend on your specific policy and how much each option will ultimate come out of your pocket.

I don't know that 'many' places is totally accurate. Definitely heard some HI horror stories, but I have rented cars all over the western US for 16 out of the 23 weeks so far this year with no problems. Reservations in place for the next 4 weeks. Including NorCal.

I haven’t been able to reserve a rental car in Idaho or Washington State for any date over a 3 month time frame through any company.

Spokane, Boise and Coeur d’Alene. O cars available on any travel date that I can use.

That is the problem of today, your windshield is probably siting of the coast of Long Beach waiting to be unloaded. Of course every windshield in the container is probably spoken for. I've had multiple windshields and a side window replaced by Safelite with no issues. I would pick someone to fix your windshield so they can order your part and put you in line for when one shows up.
