So I picked up my MY23 premium rwd SR order yesterday, I was pleasantly surprised with the ride quality. I have a 22 select and as many noted here the lack of damping with MY21 and 22. There's no more bouncing after going over speed bumps. Even with tire pressure of 44 and skinny 19 in tires the 23 rides way better than the 22 select at psi of 34. Hope someone who picks up a 23 will corroborate.

Another bonus! As someone who was looking at a Mach E in 2021…and actually ordered in 2021 (12/17/2021)…and ended up waiting a long time (watching the windshield and glass roof recall come and go…and then the HVBJB issues)….and reading about this, I realize now why being on the “bleeding edge” is not always ideal.

My order (as stated) placed in 2021 for a 2022 ended up getting rolled to a 2023 (with $8,500 in price protection)…and as of this morning is in Kansas City waiting to hitch a ride to Ayer MA…so it can somehow make it to Laconia / Meredith NH…

Good things come to those who wait…..hopefully!!!…because “it’s (gonna be) my wife’s car…

I'm confused by the term "bounce." Does that mean

1) Stiff suspension skips over bumps from crest to crest
or
b) Continues movement in the vertical plane like a 1974 Cadillac Fleetwood with a clapped out suspension

If they softened up the suspension to cure 1) then I like it. If they needed to cure b) then I'm glad I ride unbridled.

Watching this thread... so anyone else confirm this has this been fixed? Reaching the end of my "options" contract and can refinance, buy it off, or turn it back in. Like everything about the car except the "bounce" but knowing this would be fixed in later MYs would be good to know.

Not sure if it is placebo effect, but my 23.5 GTPE with magnaride suspension has felt a lot better in the last month. I have made FDRS updates. Certain bad roads near me feel just better, much less harsh and like I am going over them in a car rather than a go-kart. I just don’t know if my observation is real.

also, in older review videos you can see how much people bob forward and back - it is kind of disturbing. In recent 2024 review videos, body movement is much less pronounced.

Just look up the part numbers for the suspension components.

Pretty sure they’re identical 2021 to 2023.

What people could be feeling when they get in a new car is the effect of new tires.

Just got new tires on my 2021 and my ride quality improved significantly. I previously noted a better ride when I got a 2023 loaner with only 300 miles on it. It was the new tires for sure.

Has anyone confirmed the part numbers? In a different thread someone posted saying the 2023.5 got new rear suspension. No facts to back it up. Very curious as I’d gladly pay to swap springs and shocks if it’s better.

I’m seeing the same part number but there’s no way to distinguish between a 2023 and 2023.5.

Is there any industrial standard to objectively measure 'bounce'?

edit - added missing letter

@Socalsp3 where in SoCal are you located? Can I come take a ride in your car lol? I’d love to fix this bounce in my 2022 SR RWD
I sold it 2 yrs ago. In hindsight there wasn't much difference in ride quality after a while
