No @nvabill on the supply/demand side you not wrong. I was just polishing up your analogy ? because gasoline is not a part in the car, it is something we buy after we have the car and have to keep on buying over and over. That is what electricity to charge will be.
Oh, lol, I get what you were saying now.

Funny you should mention the Bronco because I have Bronco fever after attending an Off-Roadeo event (in Austin) and markups are still north of $10K around me. Usually $15K to $20K for upper trims like the WildTrak.

Mach-E markups are only $5K around me. Supply has vastly increased whereas Broncos are still rare and high demand. GT supply is plentiful and markups are almost zero for that trim.

Broncos are weekend toys. They don’t have the daily luxuries like the Mach-E except if you opt for the Lux package which then pushes prices into the 60s after you option everything out.

I'm with you, if they can't keep prices down for batteries with the small demand now how can they possibly meet demand in the future when there are many more EV's?

It looks like if I want an OBX, Badlands, WildTrak today I will need to pay $5-$10K markup at least. I have a 2Dr Big Bend arriving in a few weeks which is how I got to attend the Off-Roadeo event but now I want a higher trim lol.

It appears that the Bronco ADM is starting to ease up a bit.

Since the tax credit is basically gone for all but the cheapest trim levels of the Mach E along with massive price increases for the 23 model year I decided to do a little comparison on the Mach E vs Bronco pricing. I picked what could arguably be the most desirable and sought after trim levels for each vehicle, the Mach E Premium and the Bronco Badlands.

I went to the build and price for the Mach E Premium and Bronco Badlands 4 Door to see the final tally for each. To do this comparison I put every option on each vehicle that the build and price tool would allow me to add effectively building the most expensive model of each one that I could order at the dealer. Disclaimer - No I did not price a Bronco Raptor because that is a limited supply specialty vehicle that the masses aren't able to order and buy.

And the winner for the most expensive is;

Mustang Mach E Premium AWD Extended Range - $69,690

Bronco Badlands 4 Door 4x4 - $69,080

Way to go Ford, Happy New Year everyone!
Where are you getting the $69,690 price? I just went to the Ford website and built one. It came out to this:

TOTAL MSRPE8
  • BASE MSRPE30
    $54,975
  • TOTAL OPTIONSE2
    $11,300
  • DESTINATION AND DELIVERY CHARGESE25
    $1,300
TOTAL MSRP
$67,575

Ecosport should not even be sold in N.A, its a joke of a product. Ford needed a better entry level vehicle, namely a low cost EV around 55KWh under $35k
I'm a Ford fanboi, but the Ecosport really is pathetic. I got one as a rental a couple years ago and felt like I was in a clown car. Mileage wasn't even good. That said, I have read that they're pretty reliable.

That was my point but the General didn’t get it. How in the heck is an electric car which is supposed to be so simple cost more than a loaded Bronco, it is mind boggling to me!
For starters, you can't compare them if the drive train is totally different. Just because the Bronco is more attractive of a purchase for you, does not mean that the Bronco should be cheaper.

Take a look at a conversion van for the disabled as an example.

I could purchase a very high end luxury vehicle for much less than a conversion van. So why in the heck would anyone purchase a conversion van?

The answer is simple. For the "market", the conversion van is most likely priced reasonable to other conversion vans. The luxury car is most likely priced reasonable to other luxury cars.

Two totally different vehicles with two different reasons to purchase said cars.

I am struggling to see your point when the two cars are on the opposite end of the spectrum?

Will people actually pay $69K for a premium? Hmm, at that price point. If I want pure sports car fun, I will get the C8 corvette. For offroad open top SUV, Bronco is a solid choice. For similar comfort daily commute SUV, probably a Porsche Macan. I will never take MME at that price.
So when I picked up our Mach-e Premium, Jan. 11th, 2022….., price was $55,800 net, X-plan….., what a deal! Bill P

Dennis as I and others have said earlier in this thread it is not a comparison of the vehicles per se it is a comparison of what you can buy for the same or a less amount of money. The Bronco has gone up in price but nothing like what the Mach E has done since its' introduction.

Let me give you some figures on my Mach E purchase;

2022 Mach E California Route 1 purchase price of $54,250 less $7500 tax credit, net price $46,750.

Now a 2023 identical Mach E California Route 1 is $64,875 with no tax credit.

Ok, that is a net increase of $18,125 in less than a year or putting it another way an increase of 38.77% in less than a year.

Did you read what I wrote? Increase of 38.77% in less than a year!

I made a comparison of how expensive the Mach e is now compared to a Bronco, it was not that way just 1 year ago.

So, if that doesn't alarm you about the prices of the Mach E line then I don't know what to tell you, to me it is absolutely mind boggling!
