Wanted to change my premium MachE from RWD to AWD and SR to ER battery. My dealer blew me off for three weeks and now I got my build email from Ford. I called Ford and they said to call the dealer. The dealer says there is nothing they can do.

Any ideas? Am I too late?

Unfortunately , as far as I know, once build is scheduled you cannot make changes. Too bad that the dealer did not respond prior to the build date. Not sure what options exist in your situation.

My dealer made a change to my order after I got the production date email from Ford (2/7/2021). I requested to change the interior color only. It took the dealer a week or so, and they acted like they had to get others involved (I assume at Ford), but it got changed and I was notified of the change by Ford (also shows online). I don't know if your request is more difficult or of its too close to the build, but I do think the dealer is your only option. Good luck.

Yes, I’m quite frustrated by that.

How did you get them to make a change? I’ve been asking since September and they just keep saying it can’t be changed.

I don't know if they can change it now. But I call my dealer 2 weeks before I received my build date, and the change is straightforward. She changed it while I was on the phone. Less than 10 minutes. The updates showed up on my Ford.com very quickly.

I changed from RWD to AWD.

Try calling the internet sales manager (or the associate that handle the Mach-e sale), general sale associates will not help you with this.

Wow, sounds like an easy process.

I'm still holding out hope I can make a change, even if it impacts my scheduled build date.

I think your dealer just needs to put in the work, but they don't really want to. Just goto Dealership GM if needed.

I noted this in a post yesterday, but I wanted something similar. I wanted to change my premium RWD to AWD. My build week is 6 December. My dealer spent 2 weeks researching. He just informed me that the factory rep told him that I could not change my order once the build date was set. He said I’d have to do a whole new order Obviously I said hell no to that. I’ll keep my existing order. Shame though.

I just asked my sales rep by email. I asked last Monday, didn't hear anything and then I got my build date email on Thursday. Emailed the sales rep again, she said they were working on it. I assumed it wouldn't happen, but then Monday I got the updated email from Ford.

Well, since the dealer is being an asshat I'd cancel the order and place an order for what you want from another dealer. You might wait an extra 3 months, but you'll get what you want - and be sure to write a nice letter to the GM of the dealership you cancelled from about why you cancelled.

emailed the dealer owner and gm tonight and explained the situation. Next step will be to cancel the order and switch dealers. Is there any way I can talk to someone at Ford? It doesn’t seem the like the dealer has much motivation other than not having to listen to me complain

Yeah, once a vehicle is sequenced (aka "blended") for build on a specific day, the order can't be changed no matter how trivial.

The issue is that while many features are installed on a car in just one assembly line station, other parts require riding with the car for multiple stations to install. When this happens, they can't build two cars back-to-back with the same feature. The computer sequences the build order to make sure that doesn't happen.

So the reality is, not all changes would force a change in build sequence ... but it doesn't matter. Once the vehicle is sequenced for build order, the order locks out all changes.

As an example ... I realized my dealer didn't add the "Interior Protection Package" that I wanted (this amounts to front & rear all-weather floor mats and a cargo mat). To "install" this feature, the plant will toss a box containing the mats into the back of the car at the end of the assembly line. But once my order was sequenced, even floor mats couldn't be added (so I'll be ordering those from the parts department once they become available for order.)

Yup exactly the same change I wanted to make and the dealer said he cant change it because there is a build date in the system.
