Hey Ford! Can we get mi/kWh on the instrument cluster?

My old Bolt had a meter with real time kW usage when you hit the accelerator and it would go negative to show real time kW when charging. One of a few things I thought were better about the Bolt. This is the major thing I think is missing from the driver display.
Such a question also makes us wonder why the power bar is _only_ for GTs. I just want to know if my performance is limited by anything and I can’t!

Pretty sure Ford still has that code, someone paid for it ;)
Not sure the EU devs were working on the EV part as the FFE was a compliance car. you know thrown together quickly (but having features and code 10years beter than today). Part of it is probably that the current devs are using some drag and drop IDE and have no real idea of connections that exist in the car already. Or they're trying to make it so generic it can be used by everyone else with Sync4. I would assume this is the case sadly.

I'd venture the Prem/Select just don't have the extra hardware needed to monitor this. The front motor is different as well as a lot of other cabling. That bit of limiting is most likely a safety feature only for that drivetrain. We can enable the display on the prem, but don't expect to see grey bars.

All trims really should have the power meter bar, however what is there is microscopic and poorly laid out which sums up the drives display in general.

The advantage of a display is that while it is cheaper for manufactures it also means they can offer various layouts people can select from as everyone will have a different idea of what is an optimal layout.

The current the layout should just be called the waste of space layout. At launch the design concepts sketches had a circular gauges so there is plenty of space to have a circular the power meter surrounding the range / speed like you get in other vehicles. However it would appear that fords actual designers put in charge of the final design are only is possession of a ruler :(

I wish we got themed updates! It would be so cool to have an update focused on EV metrics. But we all know the answer to this question

Too many numbers and things to worry about. Color coded block in front of the car. If it's red you're probably going to have to hit the brakes.

I understand the simplicity of the small display. Seeing as my hand/arm covers the left 1/3rd of it and that I have to look through the steering wheel to see it, a clutter of info on there whilst driving is only going to take your eyes off the road that much longer.

I presume the only way to see consumption for those with the new UI is to have the trip log full screen on the big monitor? Right now I organize tiles so it is the first one so I can monitor consumption then tire pressure. Have to agree that recent (current) consumption numbers some place would be nice without taking the full screen of the big monitor to see them. Another decimal accuracy (three significant figures for KW/100 km) would not hurt either. Always displayed somewhere gets my vote.

I still wish they would use some of the small monitor and move the cruise display out from behind the steering wheel. Huge blank screen and the cruise so small and way over there. No problems seeing those big message boxes just the tiny stuff I use way over in the top right corner. Guess it works.
I'm constantly reorganizing my tiles as well... just to keep the kWh/mi in that first section, so I know where to look while I'm driving.

There is a constant notion in all software engineering departments, probably across all companies, that "we need to make things simpler for consumers and dumb it down." Then they will user studies paying a bunch of dozen users to "prove" their hypothesis. So idiotic. Of course, no one is asking to display differential equations on the dashboard.

Companies could save a ton of money by firing most of the product managers and hiring interns that scour messaging forums for ideas.

I’d prefer Ford NOT “benchmark” Tesla’s assembly quality, paint quality, device interoperability support, or particularly any of Tesla’s driver assist aids. As for what remains (Netflix, fames, and stupid shows with the car lighting system), I’d rather ford develop the advanced technology necessary for a remote frunk release ?
as someone who just took delivery of a Y, the car is built pretty damn well and it feels/sounds far better than our Mach-E (though my understanding is that this still seems to vary unfortunately). Our experience with the Mach-E left me unhappy to say the least but I hope Ford can make vast improvements.

I also want these in order of importance:
  1. kW display while charging (volts and amps would be nice too)
  2. Say whether DC charging speed being limited by the car or the charger
  3. Instantaneous or short term efficiency (add another decimal place too)
  4. Song titles
  5. Battery temperature gauge
  6. Battery heating or cooling indicator
  7. Following distance to car ahead in seconds
  8. Live animation of what ADAS is seeing with lane markings and moving vehicle models (like Tesla and Rivan)
What in the world is that? Something like, at your current speed, you will collide with the car in front of you in X seconds? Genuinely no clue what you're looking for with #7...liking the other ideas though!

This is great stuff guys, we need to repost these kind of requests more, I'm sure the feature owners are monitoring this forum and we may get what we all want!
