These are the only functions available on Apple Watch. Handy to not have to open the app to remote start, since ford didn’t think we needed that on the fob. And easier than opening the app on the phone. But no way to add the PAAK handshake to the watch.

Also no way to change the photo to a lime green MME.

If Ford is going to get serious about Apple Watch integration they are gonna have to get rid of the cute little picture of a vehicle on the app that space could be used for about eight more functions. Put the picture on the puddle lights Apple says 90% of users never find the second page of watch apps So that space is extremely valuable for developers. It’s called the most valuable real estate on any surface of any device right now The picture of the car is indication that they haven’t developed much

You’re dating yourself, amigo. Since the Series 3 (now up to 7), you can get an Apple Watch with a cellular connection. It will use your phone as a pass through if it’s nearby; otherwise, it will use its own cellular connection for calls and data both. Works like a champ.

Apple Watches now do their processing on-device as well. The first Watch was absolutely a dumb terminal for the phone; that went away also around the time of the Series 3 and its faster silicon.

No way the watch has the battery life for that. A data connection to the cloud is also required. Maybe in 5-10 years.

BTLE beacon need not be a power-hogging feature.
If you have the cellular enabled Apple Watch you're already connected to the cloud.
Otherwise, your WiFi-only Apple Watch could join your MME's in-vehicle HotSpot if you've enabled that feature.
The technology is there if people are willing to pay and Ford is willing to implement.

Ford and Apple could make it work, but there’s no guarantee it would work any better than PAAK.

What we really want is Apples CarKey which uses UWB instead of Bluetooth, is much more reliable, and can be used on a phone or watch.

Count your blessings. My wife’s 2023 BMW i4 had phone and watch as key.
You have to put the phone or watch next to the door to lock and unlock.
You have to put the phone on the wireless charger to start the car.
