SSM 51618 2021-2023 Mustang Mach-E, 2022-2023 F-150 Lightning - Exterior Charge Status Indicator Not Illuminating Blue Charging Segments After An OTA Update

Some 2021-2023 Mustang Mach-E, 2022-2023 F-150 Lightning vehicles may experience an exterior charge status indicator not illuminating the blue charging segments after an over the air (OTA) update. Confirm if the Charge Port Light toggle button is not present in the center display screen by selecting Vehicle Icon> Controls> Access> Charge Port Light toggle button, as this button has been removed after OTA update. Replacing the charge port and/or the battery charger control module (BCCM) is not recommended. This condition does not affect charge behavior and no additional diagnosis or service is required for this condition at this time. Inform customers that they can continue to drive the vehicle and engineering is currently working on a solution for this condition that is expected in September 2023. Monitor OASIS for additional information.

----End SSM----

Since Ford removed this feature, there's no way to turn the charge port indicator lights back on if they were previously off. I guess you'll have to live with no charge port lights for the next five months.

Unbelievable that it takes 4 months to get 5 lights turned back on. This company moves at the speed of reverse.

Nice to see that Ford hasn’t learned from their past mistakes.
On my 2012 focus which ran the first version of My Ford Touch there was an option to change the info the media player displayed from track & artist to album & genre. Then they updated the system to remove that toggle because who should ever use It. They only removed the toggle though, not the code to display the album & genre info. A few weeks later my car randomly decided I wanted to see album and genre instead, except now I had no toggle to change it back. I needed a whole new APIM module to fix it.

I think someone needs to please hack around Forescan to find the toggle that Ford's OTA removes.... before I get this bug.....

I think you should be ok as long as you didn’t have that setting toggled off when the update removed the toggle

oh so the problem arose from folks who had the option turned off, and then the geniuses at Ford removed the setting without setting the lights on, so the owner can now never turn it on themselves?

Do you think this happened to whoever was on here complaining the blue lights were too bright?

This bug is minor, but it sure seems like the OTA updates these days create more problems than they fix.

That's why I decided six months ago to reject all new updates. Who will join me on the dark side?

I had the lights ON, toggle ON, then the OTA happened, and lights went out. took it in, and tech first looked for the toggle in the settings, and then shook his and said why would they remove that?. LOL, atleast its just aesthetic, functionally it charges just fine,

I'd be lying if I said yes. I literally got 4 OTA's in 1 week on back to back days 1st or 2nd week of Jan.
