Tint makes a huge difference! Looks wicked.![]()
Had some changes done today. Still not sure how into the taillights I am yet. Its amazing what some tint can do to the look of a car.![]()
I was worried about visibility also but was surprised when he showed me how well the taillights still lit up in the sun. Still on the fence if I’m keeping them tinted.Unpopular opinion, but I hate cars with tinted headlights and/or taillights. Difficult to see at night or in foggy conditions. Those are extremely dark. Sometimes safety comes over aesthetics, and taillights are one of those cases IMO. Cars with super dark tinted taillights typically drive like jerks in my experience. Depending where you live, they are also a cop magnet.
Personally I wouldn't do more than 50% tint on taillights.I was worried about visibility also but was surprised when he showed me how well the taillights still lit up in the sun. Still on the fence if I’m keeping them tinted.
Add tinted front windows as well... not because I mind the look but because as a runner and cyclist (or fellow driver) it's very dangerous if I can't see the driver's eyes.Unpopular opinion, but I hate cars with tinted headlights and/or taillights. Wish we could tint the front windows, windshield, or lights in CA.Personally I wouldn't do more than 50% tint on taillights.
While technically true, my best friend is a CHP officer and has said many times over that they won't pull you over for tint unless they think something else is up. Also, as long as they can see in they don't really care. So 50%+ tint they don't care about. Windshield is different, they won't let you get away with that so easily. Lights they don't care about either unless they are very dark. There's a few OEMs that have tinted looking tail lamps and as long as they look OEM or close to it you'll be fine. Biggest thing in California is don't go to the extreme and you should be fine. But if you do go to the extreme, they will just make you remove it. It's just a fix-it ticket.Wish we could tint the front windows, windshield, or lights in CA.
It's illegal.
That's Kommiefornia....
I agree. Being able to see drivers is very important for safetyAdd tinted front windows as well... not because I mind the look but because as a runner and cyclist (or fellow driver) it's very dangerous if I can't see the driver's eyes.
Move to a state that isn’t crazy lol the rules/regs/taxes and politics make zero sense. Beautiful state though. Just run by morons.Wish we could tint the front windows, windshield, or lights in CA.

You won’t pass the safety inspection out here with tinted tail lights, headlights, or windshield (beyond the narrow strip). And they check the tint on the front sides (65% max). No safety inspection = no vehicle registration. No vehicle registration = ticket when the police see the expired tags. Then they’ll ticket you for the other stuff. While technically true, my best friend is a CHP officer and has said many times over that they won't pull you over for tint unless they think something else is up. Hawaii is like California but HI is more strict as CA does not have safety inspections to pass. You won’t pass the safety inspection out here with tinted tail lights, headlights, or windshield (beyond the narrow strip). Smog isn’t an issue on an island in the east central Pacific. The use of fossil fuels is, but not the emissions per se.Hawaii is like California but HI is more strict as CA does not have safety inspections to pass.
How about emissions - do they make you check for smog every other year ?
Registration is high in CA = $750 for my '23 MME.
