This is an update to TSB 23-2137 that adds additional trouble codes and clarifies parts ordering. This is the TSB to fix coaxial cable issues causing Front Camera Fault Service Required messages. The TSB directs replacement of the camera coax cable first above the headliner, and if that doesn't work then it continues down the A pillar and floor back to the IPMA in the trunk area. You are more likely to have this issue if your vehicle had the windshield or glass roof recall performed, since this cable was likely disturbed and may have been damaged by careless handling during reassembly. The coax cable is fragile and cannot be bent sharply (gentle turns only) or it will fail.

Summary

This article supersedes TSB 23-2137 to update the Title, Action, Issue, Service Procedure and Parts List.

Issue: Some 2021-2023 Mustang Mach-E vehicles may exhibit various driver assistance system warning messages or inoperative features and/or diagnostic trouble code (DTC) U3000:49 stored in the image processing module A (IPMA) that will not clear and not be stored in the vehicle's history. DTCs C1001:31 and/or U3000:89 may be stored in the IPMA, but may have recently been cleared and stored in the vehicle's history. This may be due to a connection issue between the IPMA Camera and the IPMA. To correct the condition, perform the following service procedure to repair the connection and reset the IPMA.

Action: Follow the Service Procedure to correct the condition on vehicles that meet all of the following criteria:
• 2021-2023 Mustang Mach-E
• IPMA has DTC C1001:31, U3000:89, and/or U3000:49 present
• At least one of the following concerns:
- Front Camera Fault Service Required message
- Pre-collision Assist inoperative
- Adaptive cruise control inoperative
- Front windshield camera alignment routine fails to complete

The TSB doesn't mention this, but the first step should be to pop off the cover above the rear mirror and confirm cable routing does not put strain on the connector. Correcting the cable routing here alone may be enough to fix the issue without needing coax replacement. You can easily pop the cover off and check yourself to possibly save a dealer trip. If your cable is routing is correct and you still have the issue, bring it to the dealer and mention this TSB.

Good luck to all attempting this repair. I’ve been trying to get mine fixed since last summer, I recently went over 36k and Ford hasn’t been much help. The last fix was a “software update” and this is a “different repair” so they are considering it a new issue, even though I’ve got all the classic pre-collision assist warnings and it’s the exact same error messages for months. At least they’re permanent instead of intermittent now so it’s not surprising me while I’m driving I guess.

YES I miss the auto high beams. It took me awhile to realize they were gone. I miss even regular cruise control as much as I drive. Error error error ok ok ok gets old every time you turn the car on. And it’s embarrassing with anyone else in it watching you clear all the error messages so you can drive.

On the plus side I seem to have picked up a nifty crackle in the middle speaker, so when the car turns on and the error ding goes off it sounds real futuristic. Didn’t expect that feature.

Ha… haven’t got the speaker feature yet… hope it all gets figured out sooner rather than later

Good luck. To be fair, Ford has offered to cover about 60% of the nearly $700 bill, leaving me with a little less than $300 I’ll owe for this possible fix. But it just seems wrong on principle that I can repeatedly and consistently complain about seeing this same issue, which was very dangerous when intermittent and now is just extremely frustrating with a lot of loss of functionality, and Ford won’t issue a timely, permanent fix or stand by their car. Just band-aid it till they wait us out.

So far this fix, done by the dealership, did the trick for me

So how many weeks has this gone error free for you? Also did you have the glass rooftop or windshield replaced ?

I’ve had problems for quite some time on and off after software updates by the dealer. They now believe it’s the cable in this TSB but I don’t have the glass rooftop nor have I had a windshield replaced. I have a Job2 GT built in July 2021.

'21 job 1, I had the front windshield recall stuff done (the new sealant). No glass replacements.

I went from errors constantly to zero for over a week now. No software updates received before/after the TSB that could claim responsibility.

Everything was fine until 2 days ago i get this message randomly but the camera always worked never any issues with it. Are we sure the tsb is not talking about the one in the front bumper?

This form is great, but doesn’t help when the dealership still goes through the ancient ways of asking us to bring the car in for a diagnosis, then waiting to order the parts, and then actually performing the job. The app shows the issue and this thread shows the parts and the fix but yet we have to drop the car off before they even order the parts

Following.

One dealer was unable to repair. Rented a car for two weeks... when I finally got the call back to pick up my vehicle after two weeks I was told "oh yeah, we have no solution, so we had your car ready for a little over a week now nobody called you in sooner?"

Another dealer provided me a loaner and fixed the issue, which came back about a month later. I called to ask them to fix again to which they said there is no fix yet from the ford engineers and we will let you know when it can be fixed.

I called back again later and they said oh no there is definitely a fix bring it in, but we cannot offer you a loaner at this time, we will have one in a week. No call back. I called and asked if they had a car to borrow for the approximately 2 day fix they quoted and they said their loaner was stolen and police found the loaner car but they have to check it out before they can let me have it.

I have recently gone over 36k miles... and I have record of this error code since 20k miles. Let's see if ford will be any help. I will give Ford EV Customer Service line (800) 392-3673 a call today.

Everything described in this thread error wise is what I was dealing with on my 2021 Job 1 Mach E. Dealership initially went through sw update and recalibration. Errors came back within a couple days. They've indicated this morning they are ordering a new camera, image processing module, and all new cabling. Said the parts should be in by next Wednesday. Hopeful this will fix the problem for good. Thankful the dealer provided an EV loaner while I wait.
