I bought something similar to @JohnFoxeSheets solution. It’s a MagSafe laptop phone holder. Pivots out of the way when I am not using it and charges the phone. No cutting and comes with tape. ??

I got this Vicseed on Amazon, marketed for Teslas but works and looks great on the MME. I like that the arm can extend to orient your phone on landscape. Or keep it retracted for portrait. The arm also tilts forward so it clears your display and doesn't bump against it.

I am just curious, what functions can't Sync, Android Auto or Car Play do where you need access to your phone while driving? I use Android Auto with a Pixel phone and have full access to my phone, my SMS messages, YouTube music, Maps, Apps such as NPR, etc via voice commands or the Infotainment screen.

I don’t use these magnetic holders myself (I simply plug in the cable) but I assume a major reason is due to how useless the car’s wireless charger becomes when wireless CarPlay is active. It heats up the phone to the point that thermal limitations take place while the battery level drops during the trip.

I bought this Baseus 6000, 7.5 watts for iPhone. The magnet is super strong. It adds battery percent while using CarPlay for navigation and music streaming and does not heat up the phone. Paid $28. Charges a phone from dead to 100% twice before it needs to take a charge. My phone goes ron top and the charge pad is free for a passenger, works well to charge when the phone is not running CarPlay and using resources.

This is a great idea. 2 questions...
*Does the Battery Pack change via the car's charging pad or do you need to plug it in?
*Does the Battery Pack have the ability to hold a mag wallet?

It comes with a 4" USB C cable so you can charge off the car right there or anywhere. It's perfect for simple dual charging "pad" that actually works for the driver/passenger. And a great tool to have on the road if I need to keep it on the phone wherever/whatever I'm doing after I park the car. I don't see it that useful for a mag wallet though. Once you connect it to a phone, there isn't a magnet on the back side to attach anything. Bought it on Amazon.

Thanks for the suggestion. Not sure if the magnet will hold through my Otterbox case.
I use this configuration shown in the photo. I cut out the center strip section of the mat then epoxied an Adjustable Folding Drink Holder and used the epoxy to keep it open. Works well with coffee cups and soda cans or bottles.
I also got Arrmrest Storage Box Organizer and Center Console Dash Storage although my iPhone is too large to mount on left.

I mounted a magsafe type from MINDSKY. It has a fan to help cool it and fancy (whoo hoo) lights. Holds my Iphone 12 Prox Max with a Otterbox Magsafe Defender case. I was worried about the magnet holding the phone since my case is thicker. It has not dropped, unless you hit it turning on the wipers. I put mine on the left side of the main screen and positioned it to clear the washer arm but it is still near by the arm. And occasionally, I do accidently turns on the wipers.

I’ve been looking at this but I don’t like that it’s only 7.5 watts per charger. I’m thinking about making one with two Apple MagSafe chargers in it.
