What is proper maintenance to get/keep my MME that shiny.

Confession: I am usually one to bring my car to a touchless carwash every few months. But with the MME, it'll need some special care.

What am I in for?

I have no clue, but I've seen YouTube videos on people using ceramic coatings for a shine like that. If that's the case, I'm doing that to my Mach-E.

I'm planning to try this approach:

shampoo, wash
Jescar Power Lock Plus polymer sealant
Collinite 845 carnauba wax

Only hand wash it (two bucket method or a rinse less wash), there are tutorials out there on how to do it and what you need to get to avoid swirl marks. Ceramic coating after 1 stage paint correction (polishing). Full PPF will protect against rock chips and you can put ceramic coating over that but it’s expensive. Best way to keep the car looking brand new is to never ever use it of course

I wrote this up in another thread.

Tunnel washes with the beaters do a horrible time on paint. Swirl marks are no fun. Touchless don't even clean.

The best way is to do a two-bucket hand wash with grit guards. Then claybar it, polish, and then wax. It's a pita. So that's car care level 10.
A wash tunnel is car care level 3. Doing nothing is 0. (My opinion and made up scale.) The higher up the scale the better the paint is protected but the more work/cost. You have to figure out where on the scale you want to be.

Ceramic coatings and PPF, make each wash less work. But you still have to do it and the car care scale still applies.

My go-to place for advice is the excellent folks at the Meguiars forum.

I was there(Denver) also. Spent my time at the Infinite Blue. Loved it. Wish to drive it. Bonus was getting to spend a good deal of time talking with my school mate (OSU)Randy Gradishar. He is a year younger than I. Our high schools were competitors long ago and far away. He is a good egg. I hope you guys had s chance to converse with him as well.
My ancestors were mountain Williams (SKA hillbillies) from the Appalachians. Dirt poor. Ran moonshine. Only possession was a car. Always in top condition, inside, outside and everywhere in between (you may have heard the term backyard mechanic). Lesson learned: wash every week. I grew up washing my Dad's cars once a week by hand - no soap. Running water, real sponge, real chamois. Yes, in the dead of very cold Ohio winters (garage floors had drains).
I have used drive through car washes for a long time now. They are water conservers and do a great job, brushless or with brushes. I prefer soft brushes - lower water pressure. And yes, I still use a chamois, only they are now sheep skin, but work fine. The car washes are even better than hand washing, especially for undercarriage, most notably in winter( for those of use who experience cold and snow at times). SIMONIZ, of course.
The Infinite Blue Metallic is better($400) paint and should hold up well.

I think I might have been there about the same time (2pm to 3pm slot). I heard someone mention OSU.

Machine washes aren’t better than hand washes, brushes will inevitably introduce paint defects and touchless doesn’t get it very clean (though yeah it’s convenient for cleaning the undercarriage). Old fashioned sponge and chamois hand washes would also mess up the paint to some extent which is why enthusiasts don’t use them anymore (aside from new sponges like the Big Red Sponge which is fundamentally different from old car sponges).

Obviously most people go through machine washes and are fine with it so if that works for you go for it. It’s not like the paint will likely look bad even after a decade of machine washing, just worse than it could look.

That's cool! So looks like Randy is working with/for Phil Long Ford now? Huge fans. I think we missed attending one home game during his entire Bronco career.

That Phil Long location used to be our main dealership for 20 years. Now we live up north of town. Went to the Longmont tour event Tuesday.
