I have had my 23 MME for almost a month and I love it. It’s the nicest car I’ve ever owned and I want to take good care of it. I’m frustrated with the app though, especially when it comes to preconditioning. I understand how important preconditioning is, but I have an irregular schedule. It seems as if when I realize I want to leave in an hour and put in a leave time, it is not recognized, at least on the app. Why isn’t there a button for precondition now? And a better view of the car’s current status? Are these things you just get used to or are there workarounds? Initially I thought remote start was the same as preconditioning but I have learned here on the forum that isn’t true. Is it better than nothing?

That's just the way it is currently. It really depends on your goal. If you just want a warm cabin, remote start will accomplish that for you. If you're trying to maximize your range for a trip by leaving with a warm battery, you'll need to set a departure time. If you're going on a short trip, and range isn't an issue, you really don't need the battery to be preconditioned.

Thanks for your reply. I was under the impression that preconditioning is important for long term battery life but it seems like that might be incorrect? I have a LFP battery.

If you're concerned about it, just leave the car plugged in. It will automatically pull power from the grid to keep the battery from getting too cold. IMO, preconditioning is way overkill if you're just looking for long term battery health.
