The tire size is 265/45/20 Michelin Pilot Sport EV, the Discount Tire folks certified it would fit perfectly, they said that was as wide as you can go, since the wheels are 20 x 8's. I had to actually go to my local discount tire to purchase them since online is limited to 255/45/20's.

I'm not so sure. Your (UL listed) Emporia is advertised on its store page as "a Level 2 electric vehicle charger that charges any EV up to 40 amps with 22" NEMA 14-50P or up to 48 amps with hardwired installation." The no-name product does not say anything other than 48 amps.

Your Emporia documentation clearly outlines the different installation requirements and limitations for hard wired vs. NEMA plug - the no-name product does not. There's no mention of supporting hard-wiring at all. There is some mention of circuit breaker sizing in the documentation, but the manual implies that someone needs to use a 60 amp breaker for a NEMA 50 outlet, which is against code and likely to eventually melt the outlet.

Everything about this company / product screams shady, half-a**ed, and do-not-buy (to me).

The tire size is 265/45/20 Michelin Pilot Sport EV, the Discount Tire folks certified it would fit perfectly, they said that was as wide as you can go, since the wheels are 20 x 8's. I had to actually go to my local discount tire to purchase them since online is limited to 255/45/20's.

No rubbing or clearance issues with my 2023 Mach-E GT Performance model, it seems to have lots of clearance from what I can tell.

Also kudos to you for the great looking Mach E. (I'm not one for a black car - I choose car colors by what will hide the dirt the best? - but I think yours looks wonderful.)

Thanks for nice comments and support, this feedback on Charger that I purchased has definitely opened my eyes that not all home chargers are made the same, so I can deep dive into finding the right solution. I am now just using my ford 32amp charging unit in my 240v outlet that I had installed by certified electrician. That seems to do the job for now.

I am now just using my ford 32amp charging unit in my 240v outlet that I had installed by certified electrician. That seems to do the job for now.

Are you able to return it without a fee? If so, return it and buy an Emporia. If not, it's not the end of the world. I did check and it's showing it's UL listed with a 2 year warranty. There are only 3 reviews so it's a new, untested product. Just make you go into the app and set the current to 40A or less.

Thanks, Steve. Yeah, I kinda like pushing the boundaries in making my cars have a bit more sporty look for sure, and try to make it my own, with that said I tried hard to keep it as OE looking as possible but with a sporty touch.

Yes, I already contacted the vendor and they actually refunded me and on top of that are giving me the charger for free since I wrote a nice review. LOL They did show me how to set the amps to 40 on the provided APP. So, I will keep it for now and call my electrician and get his thoughts on setting it up safely if that is possible, if not than I will sell it on ebay and take a look at your recommended charger.

Also check to make sure the 14-50 outlet is on a 50 Amp breaker. If it is, then the circuit is protected. You still don't want to intentionally overload it with a 48 Amp charge, but the breaker should throw and shut it off if you accidentally overload it.

I have an Emporia EVSE also, hardwired on a 60 Amp circuit so I can charge at the full 48 Amps.

This has to be one of the best most upbeat threads! I do love this forum. I don't post much anymore (two years into my ownership of my GT...and 2 months into owning a Lightning...my wife took my MachE ).

If you want to nerd out and learn more about charging, EVSE's/Level 2 chargers, charging curves with fast charging, real range tests, and other EV goodness, Tom Moloughney's "State of Charge" YouTube channel can't be beat. He tests rigorously chargers and post video's on them (the Emporia that a few folks have mentioned is highly rated there...I own one too).

Even the CEO's of EV companies watch this guys channel and know who he is...he has 1:1 interviews with Jim Farley and Darren Palmer of Ford for instance. Spend a few hours (at 1.5x speed if needed) on his channel and you will be teaching everyone you know about EV charging in no time.

Oh, and sweat GT PE!!! (my only regret with my MachE GT was not getting the PE)

Sharing a few of the upgrades I recently did to my 2023 Ford Mach-E GT PE. These were all excellent upgrades, See pics and links below:

1. Replaced the Perilli 245/45/20 tires with Michelin 265/45/20 Pilot Sport EV tires, awesome change in ride and handling quality, discount tire did the installation, be sure to get your pucKs on amazon, and ensure you have same size tires front and rear if AWD. Discount tire may tell you widest tire is 255/45/20, but that is no correct, the wheels accommodate 265/45/20 tires.
