I was with a utilities supplier who did not offer an EV rate for night time charging. I swapped to Octopus and went to programme the preferred charge times to the times offered by Octopus. I was amazed that FordPass and the Mach-E cannot do that. The Octopus times are from 00:30 to 04:30 but the Mach E and FordPass only work to the nearest hour. So I am deprived of the opportunity to use 25% of the cheap electricity because the software engineers at Ford are more interested in providing a pretty GUI than a functional one.
The most annoying thing is that I set my Miele Dishwasher to the minute and it I have it coming on at 00:31. Also it works every time with ForddPass doesn't but that might be another thread.
I have made the point to support at Ford that this is appalling and there should not be unnecessary limits on what can be set.

What tariff you on with Octopus? Is it Intelligent Go? I dont set anything on ford pass or on the car apart from departure time, if its Intelligent Go you should just plug it in and Octopus does it automatically. Sometimes Ford can lock your account but Octopus can help you with that.

Just on Octopus Go.
I charge my PV battery 00:30 - 04:30 and run my house off that battery during the day. Any generation export and I'm paid more than the cost of electricity in the cheap time.
I have a Fordpass problem and I will post another thread.

When I get that sorted I might look at changing. I joined Octopus at the recommendation of a friend who has two EVs and a good solar system. He has changed to Intelligent Go so I will get the low down from him.

Man a dishwasher that can be set for cheap electricity! I want that. All I have is a delay start that may or may not work properly and I end up having to just run it half the time in the morning when I wake up!

First world problems
Agreed but that doesn't stop it being very inconvenient and annoying.
Given where I live most of my problems can be described as First World Problems.
I doubt I would be on this forum in many other places in the world.

Ours is similar but 30 min on the higher rate is still just a few cents. So I set it to midnight. You could also just start at 0100. Depending on your SoC the car might start charging earlier than you scheduled anyway.

Our local rate goes down to 7Ā¢ at 2100 and 4Ā¢ at midnight. So it’s still cheaper than the Day rate.

You can buy an EV charger that has more advanced scheduling.

More importantly, is the subwoofer on your Miele as underpowered as the one in the Mustang? Or did they put in a proper subwoofer?

My day rate is 30.6 pence per kWh and my night rate is 9 pence per kWh.

Buy a third party EVSE and control charging from that. The Emporia EVSE will schedule in 5 minute increments.

Got an air source heat pump tumble dryer, pretty good though it takes twice as long but only a fraction of power than the old fashioned dryers with that dangerous fire hazard of a heating element within.

Not thought of putting the dishes in the Mache-e yet, though, does it have a rinse-hold program? May give I try this afto?

I do happen to know I can’t get all the tools in the dishwasher and the flex don’t quite reach into Essex………….from Notts??ā€ā™‚

I use a Wallbox Pulsar Plus and the times of charging can be set by the App. Had it for nearly 2 years and cross fingers never had a problem with timed charging with Octopus Go. Just set the car to charge at any time and let the Wallbox do the rest. (O.K. did have one that the Wallbox got confused when the clocks moved forwards or backwards an hour but that was quickly fixed by a Wallbox firmware update).

It’s a matter of Mustangs for courses!

looked at Octopusā€s ā€œtoo good to be true (for me)ā€ EV rate but it’s pretty useless for my type of charging pattern and would work out more expensive than the Shell rates or whoever Shell has now become.

When I charge at home which is usually three times a week, I’m from near zero to 100% which takes just about 7 hours in the ABB 22kWh 3-phase charger.
