So short story, I dropped my car off at the dealership last Thursday for a few issues. Text communication from the service advisor has been constant with the impression that things are progressing. I've questioned that as I've kept an eye via the Ford Pass app with the mileage and location not changing. This evening upon refreshing the app the battery saver message popped up as shown below. I assume my car has gone into hibernation to save the 12V battery?

My dealership has been friendly and I've never had a problem using them. They provided a loaded Explorer as a loaner which is nice but we've already spent $70 on gas which will be the case every 4-5 days with the amount of miles I drive.

Before I start to question their tactics I wanted to confirm with you guys the reasons why this message just popped up in the app. Thanks.

Well that's a new one. I assume it's noticing the data from the car is stale, so it wants you to drive it (driving the car will ping the server and update the vehicle data). Or possibly connected vehicle data sharing got turned off in your connectivity settings.

If the 12V battery is low and enters deep sleep mode (or it's in a poor cell coverage area), the vehicle won't respond to server pings, which is probably what triggered that message. So you would need to drive it as suggested before it can update again.

My Ford Pass on my 2022 Ford Escape Hybrid is showing the exact same thing. I noticed this in October. I took it to the dealer and they said there was a computer update which they did. Was hoping it would solve the problem but it didn’t. They said to delete the App and reinstall which I also did. No luck. I used the Ford Pass all the time and really miss it. Any suggestions on how to fix this problem would be appreciated.

Go drive the vehicle, then park with it still running. Open FordPass and see what it says.

The remote will work for about five minutes after I drive the vehicle. Then it goes back into the “drive the vehicle and disconnect from battery saver mode.” I have a feeling that that battery needs to be replaced. I have heard that there are two batteries in the hybrids.??? I wouldn’t mind but I used it all the time. I miss it.

Yeah, that means the 12V battery is about dead.

Fixed itself once the dealership finished up the repair and drove the vehicle. Have never seen the message again since.

The second battery I my trunk had to be replaced. It wouldn’t hold a charge. It worked for a few weeks and then the message came back. Took it back for service and they contacted Ford. Apparently the vehicle needs to be driven almost on a daily basis in order to keep it charged. Was not aware of this when I purchased. I’m a senior citizen who drives very little and thought this would be a perfect vehicle for me. Not so much come to find out.

Lots of our vocal forum members are senior citizens who don't drive their Mach-Es very often. Yet they aren't sharing this experience of the battery rapidly draining. So something else may be going on, or maybe the particular 12V battery was faulty.

When the vehicle is parked and off for a long time (several days), it should wake itself up to use its large, high voltage pack to boost up the tiny low voltage battery's energy whenever it falls below a low watermark threshold.

EDIT: I re-read through your posts and now realize you are referring to an Escape hybrid, not a Mustang Mach-E. Sorry for my confusion -- but I still believe you should be able to keep it parked for several days with no issue. Surely this is a common use case. The dealer needs to get this figured out and corrected for you.
