I purchased the rear lip spoiler from Ford's site and installed it myself. Instructions are simple, however the final step caught me off guard and left it slightly less than perfect. The final step is placing the spoiler onto the trunk lid with the 2 sided tape. What they don't tell you is that the instant the tape touches your car, it's bonded. You can't slide it around or make minor adjustments. Taking it off would rip up the tape.
The problem is, the spoiler now has a small gap on the bottom because was not able to full seat it again the deck lid (it wouldn't slide).

I'm leaving it as-is because you can't really notice it and because trying to remove it would destroy the chance of a future bond, but it bothers me that it's not perfect.

Thoughts?

Yes. Tape tends to stick. Especially the ones that need to stick in extreme conditions. Like high speed.

You can use one of these to take it off.

It will be a pain to remove the tape from the spoiler and apply new tape.
If it’s not too far off, leave it.

If it's bad enough that it bothers you, you can likely remove it easier with some heat (hair dryer, heat gun, whatever) to soften the adhesive/tape. But then, yes, this would damage the tape and you'd have to probably strip the existing adhesive/tape from the spoiler and apply something new before putting it back on the car (I haven't seen the spoiler, but expect it is likely some version of a 3M foam tape or VHB).

But yes, in general, most of these types of applications would be a "one and done" shot at it. I'd almost never expect to be able to make any adjustments with these. You just have to do a lot of test fitting before pulling the film off the tape and do your best to get it right.

It's not too bad. It's like a 1/4 inch off the trunk on the bottom side. I was trying to slide it forward to seat nicely but the bond was super strong instantly. Not worth the hassle to take it off.

Now that I know what the issue is, it looks fine to me. Also rather good looking spoiler.
Do you have link to it?

Does it help keeping the back of the car clean? That is always the dirtiest place on it, which would be the only reason I would use it. I suspect that something that directed air down over the door would be what is needed for that. I prefer function to looks.

I think it looks fine. If it was crooked then yeah, you'd want to remove it. But honestly it looks good as it is.

Curious: are you at all worried about the ends of the spoiler catching on stuff? For instance I don't think I'd use any automatic car wash with that installed...

Oh, and Ford, seriously? ?

Yours looks fine in your pictures. If you hadn't said it was off a bit I wouldn't have known.
I was a little shocked at the price.

Did you use the 3M sealant on all the areas that were indicated in the instructions ?

I had a small gap on one side after applying both the tape and 3M sealant so I filled it with extra 3M sealant. Scraped off the extra and looks great.
