I’m especially enjoying my 2 wk old MME premium.
We have had solar for years and produce more electricity than we use. My monthly bill is around $23. Cost per kWh is $.13 and when I sell the excess back to them, once a year, they pay me $.01 per kWh. If I charge the 91 kWh battery only when the sun is shining, I’m using what I would sell back for a penny! What a deal! Costs for solar panels are “sunk”. Did have to pay an Electrician to upgrade to 24V. I think I’ll make up some nonessential errand and go for a ride!

I'm still searching for a trustworthy solar contractor. Are you happy with yours? If so, do they work up in the Valley?

Look into evse’s that only charge when making excess solar. Thats what we have and it’s great. I added 45kWh yesterday off just excess solar. It’s great, and doesn’t take any extra steps from me to tell it charge or to stop.

Man, that's a terrible sell rate compared to what they charge. I'd go out of my way to never have even a microWh to spare just to spite them. One day I will have solar panels or shingles or whatever on my house, and a battery bank.

We used Solar city at about the time Tesla bought them. I’ve been pretty happy. There were some performance problems after installation, but they were taken care of. I think I could recommend Tesla.

That’s pretty nice. Looks like you have a battery. I don’t have the powerwall. Maybe that would help keep them from getting my juice, but I think in the winter the battery would fill up and the power company would get the spillover. Maybe a problem specific to sunny AZ.

Check out https://www.energysage.com/ to get a list of installers (but maybe sign up with a disposable email so you don't get spammed) and read the reviews.

Before you sign anything, they should be able to provide you with recent references that you can contact and verify that they're legit.

We went with a (very) small local engineering firm that was highly rated. Certainly not the lowest quote, but high quality components, they knew how to jump through all the local permitting hoops, and got it all done on time and on budget.

I have been very happy with Tesla Solar!
I even recently upgraded my system with them, including adding more panels.
At present, I think the only way to send excess daytime production to the MME would be to manually plug /unplug the car depending on amount of sunshine that time of the day.
Be sure to get the EV/TOU plan from APS!

Here’s my solar app. Yesterday had a few clouds, but almo all my solar goes to the grid in the winter. Summer is a different story.

I have SRP. Which is usually the better of the two, but not when it comes to solar. Their buyback rate is something like OPs..

You can do SunRun thru Costco, you get special pricing on PPA options and some additional features on purchases.

We're in the West Valley and had 20 panels installed by SunPower a few years ago---good installation--no problems. Fair price (We paid a total of $21k (before tax credits) for an 8k system (20 400 Watt panels). My only regret is not getting 2-4 more panels. At the time, we didn't have an electric car and didn't have a/c in the garage--and we came out with a net credit the first couple of years. Now that we have a/c in the garage and the electric car, we often have a small bill.

This was an interesting to read, but for me in Mississippi I think I’d be spending money I could use elsewhere. Except for 3 hours a day we’re at .04 cent a kWh, which I feel is pretty good?

I have 30 kWh of battery storage. I have the car as priority over the batteries. So the system charges the car u til it says stop, and the fills the house batteries. I put 257.4 kWh into the car in March. The power company paid 1.5 cents per kWh in March, so I paid $3.86 to fuel my Mach E in March.
