The air conditioning isn't blowing cold in my new '23 Premium. I brought the car to my local dealer a couple weeks ago. They ran tests and everything seems fine with the compressor. "Low side line immediately gets very cold and frosty with ice". They recharged the system and thought it was fixed. But as soon as I tried it, it still didn't work. They are stumped and opened a case with Ford technical assistance a couple weeks ago.

Has anyone had a similar issue? I feel like it could be a problem with sensors/computers.

Wow, “purged air from Freon” isn’t a thing (very wrong practice). If there’s air in the system, it has to be completely recovered, vacuumed, and recharged.

2 psi return pressure is indicative of a clogged thermal expansion valve, but if there’s air in the system all bets are off.

The person that wrote that description isn’t very knowledgeable about A/C. You may need to take it to a different dealer.

My daughter's Mach E had no AC for about 6 months. It was fall/winter so they didn't worry about it. Then it fixed itself after a software update.

Perhaps I could get Ford to send a software update to my home A/C unit...

Thanks guys. I just heard back from my dealer this morning that "we heard back from Ford. We need to get the Mach-E back in here."

They are taking the car in next Wednesday.

So is this an issue???

I have 7000 km on the MME and haven't needed the AC until yesterday. Set the temp to 16C and it did not cool down, had to put it to max AC and all that did was make fan noise, had to open the window or it would have been a sweat box, tried again today and same thing. Put it on outside air which seemed to work better but it does not blow cold air.

My 96 F150 has better cooling than this.

Can you tell if the A/C compressor is running or not? Stand outside the car while the A/C is on, the compressor will be a loud hum that is sometimes described like a jet engine noise on takeoff. It ramps up and down in pitch. When it's running full tilt you'll also feel the vibration of it in the steering wheel and pedals.

Pretty sure the compressor is running. Started it before leaving and it was quite noisy, louder than anytime it was started in the winter.

On the way home it had cooled down outside, I had my side on low, wife had her side on 17C and it seemed to be blowing colder air on my feet but it had also dropped 10C outside.

It shouldn't be blowing cold air on your feet. Make sure you press the AUTO button to cancel any custom modes and make sure the air is being sent where it needs to go for optimum performance (out the face vents instead of the floor vents). If you have the A/C set to floor, it won't perform properly.

Ford basically told the dealer they did a poor job with the diagnostics and requested the dealer bring my car back for further tests. However, there was a scheduling conflict so I ended up taking the car to a different dealer. The second dealer also does not know what's wrong and noticed that the air coming from the passenger side does get slightly cooled (but not nearly what it should be), and the driver side only blows the outside air. They put in another request in with corporate. That was a couple days ago so I'm hoping to hear back soon. I've already brought the car in 3 times for this issue.

It sure doesn't blow it out the dash and putting it on Auto does not cool it down. Going to max air and putting it on the floor and dash is the only way it cools the inside at all. So I'm not sure why you can't direct the airflow. That makes no sense in my mind.

Since you’re not getting any air, please double check that the air vents are all opened. The vehicle is shipped with the air vents closed from the factory.

Hi there! Will you send us a message with your VIN and your local Ford dealer? I can look into things on my end.

Ages ago I had a similar problem with an Acura. Allegedly the venting was installed “wrong” and they had to rip out the dash and redo it. Had the car for 4-5 days. Worked great when done

Interesting. It wouldn't surprise me at all if that's what happened with my car.
