... and when allowing auto stop when in reverse.

2022 Premium AWD ER... I just swapped out the stock 19" wheels and tires for 20" with a 45mm offset (245/45R20 tires). I'm getting this consistent, loud, and annoying creak sound when I let off the brakes after coming to a stop (1PD) or let the regen stop the vehicle when in reverse (like when parking).
What's my issue? The creak is like the short burst sound of the leg of a wooden chair scooting across a wooden floor. Also, I tried the whole roll in neutral and apply the brakes thing, but that did nothing.
I certainly hope the issue is not the larger wheels... I figured it shouldn't be an issue as I didn't go larger than the GT stockers...

Hope you can see the video here: https://www.facebook.com/629503199/videos/pcb.1435425870487606/401703076256302

Hello, Phil! I would like to look into your creaking sound concern. Please send over a private message with your VIN and the name/location of your local Ford dealer.

Mine has done that since I took delivery in Dec 2023, I don't worry about it. I will have them look the next (and first) time I bring it in for service, but I avoid the dealer until absolutely necessary.

Rusty rotors. Happens often after it rains. Takes longer to clear up if you use 1pd as the friction part of the brake isn't used terribly much.

Run the car on the freeway, exit the freeway, flip gear selector into N, use brakes, Harder the better, little 35mph stops doesn't do it. So if you wait till you'd need to be on them pretty hard all 4 will clean in 1 or 2 stops like that.

This should be in a FAQ in the glovebox really.

Also bigger, more open wheel allow more of that sound to be heard. There was a guy with really open 22's. It was driving him crazy.

There was a post a couple of years ago about a ringing noise that someone’s aftermarket wheels was making, but your description doesn’t seem the same. It seems to be an audible harmonic. The first thing I would try is removing the wheels, backing the torque off on the spacers, and re-torquing the spacers to 150 lb/ft with a recently calibrated wrench, then reinstalling the wheels and torquing them to 150 lb/ft. Oh, and make sure that the mating surfaces are absolutely clean. ??

So I haven't gone THAT hard on this method yet, but... I'll give it a try today.

But I'm not 100% confident this is a rust issue.... Regardless, we shall give it the old college try! Thanks for the response.

These pads are super grippy, for no real reason. When the dealer did my rear brake harness they reprogrammed something that made the brakes feather in and out a lot better. This update also included the auto hold when shifting into park, that got rid of the bouncing back and forth after shifting into P and letting go of the brake. The behavior of the car is worlds better. Previously my rear brakes would grab early and let go late, by like 1/4 to 1/2 second when coming to full stop.

Now THIS is interesting... I wonder if this would come OTA?

Yes, but mine didn't get that update before March this year. The dealer applied a bunch of stuff when they had it for a month.

My 21 bronco used to do it every time I backed up for the first time and hit the brakes never going forward, but after you drove it, it didn’t do it while it was warm. I’m guess it’s the same thing rotors.

I see this happens only when auto hold is enabled

Rust is the most common issue.

But others have had parts of the brake pads get stuck on the rotors. If it’s on the outside you might be able to see if anything is stuck.

Oh and I don't use Autohold, anymore. It holds just fine now, so long as I'm not just 'a hair' into the go pedal.
