Hi, earlier today I was heading west on a BC enabled road, using BC, and it worked fine. Turned around, and got so many "watch the road" warnings I turned it off. It was a bit after 11am. Lots of sun, so maybe that impacted it. Fine. Is there a way to just use the adaptive control in this situation? Hitting the normal button to start BC just started BC.

Thank you.

Thanks to you both. I'll be traveling tomorrow so I will get to try it out.

Turning off Lane Centering is no fun though. :(

The Forscan nix of the eye-scanner allows for a fully functional Copilot 360 Assist without Hands-free mode.

I suspect that the values might be a little different, but the Asbuilt line# would be the same for the Mach-E as the F150?

Here is the eye-scan nix on the truck
(Red values is eye-scan on)

I’ve never had that problem, perhaps you put on sunglasses that are incompatible or were blocking the sensor with your arm in a different position?

You can disable steering control with the button on the steering wheel to switch to adaptive cruise only.

BC is quicker to turn off handsfree and lane keeping than the RAV4 was to turn off lane keeping. But BC also is so smooth about the transitions that I don't find that a problem.

I have prescription polarized mirrored sunglasses, and they have never been an issue for Bluecruise eye tracking. Smiling and laughing has been. Maybe your cheeks are in the way? Or it doesn't like narrower eyes?

Mirrored sunglasses can be an issue with the eye nanny. Try wearing a monitored pair of glasses next time your in similar lighting conditions and see if it makes a difference.

No. I have never had issues with the sunglasses. Regardless of whether I wear regular glasses or my sunglasses, if I smile or laugh, my eyes suddenly become harder track. The eye tracker handles sunglass well. Facial structure apparently is more variable and thus difficult for the eye tracking to handle.

Actually, Ford specifically warned about coated and reflective sunglasses and the IR eye tracker. Be all that as it may, good luck with a resolution as yore obviously not getting an answer you’re happy with here.

I am not sure why you think I am not happy with my answers here. I was just pointing out that it may not be sunglasses affecting how well eye tracking works for some people, but other things, like how well the car can see a person's eyes. Some people have more droopy eyelids, or narrower eyes, and it's not unusual for sensors to work on some people more easily that others. We see that with pulse oximeters and fitness trackers, which can be more reliable on fair skin than dark skin. For the most part, it works fine for me, and failures are only a very minor and easily handled nuisance, but I wanted to make this clear because it may be a bigger issue for others.

@Mach-Lee answered your specific question about how to engage adaptive cruise control without engaging BlueCruise — turn off lane centering with the button on the left side of the steering wheel.

Any sunglasses which filter infrared light, mirrored or not, are going to be an issue with the eye nanny as it uses infrared light to detect where the driver’s eyes are looking. I have a pair of sunglasses tinted to block IR I used to wear during ultra distance triathlons. They resemble a colored mirror. BC will, sooner or later, trip off if I drive with them. Any other pair of sunglasses, including polarized are fine. That’s why it might be of benefit to switch glasses, if convenient, when you find yourself in that situation. It could help to pinpoint the cause.

No, he answered the original poster's question. I was just putting out another possible cause of failure to track a person's eyes.
