Unexpected Deceleration While Using Adaptive Cruise Control

Over the last month or so, I have experienced a new "feature", probably as the result of an OTA update, that unexpectedly and automatically slows my MME down when approaching a curve on the Interstate or an exit ramp I intend to take. For example, I recently traveled from Dayton, Ohio to Mt. Laurel, NJ on I-70 and I-76. Speed limit was 70 MPH, Adaptive Cruise set to 70+8 MPH. As I approached a somewhat aggressive curve, but one that I would not normally slow down for, my MME rapidly decelerated to 65 MPH without any input from me. 2/3 of the way through the curve it quickly accelerated back to 78 MPH. It also does this when approaching an exit ramp from a highway that is on my Ford Navigation planned route.

Has anyone else experienced this "new feature"? And is there a way to disable it?

Also note that your accelerator will override adaptive cruise control. I use that fairly often, especially when another car switches into my lane in front of me, to ease how hard it brakes, so the car behind me doesn't rear end me.

That was added to BC 1.2 and 1.3
It does a good job of slowing down enough to not wobble or overshoot the curve. Keep in mind that it’s not a human driver and can’t react as fast.
It shows that it is going slow down on the IPC before the curve. I just use the accelerator to speed up if I feel it’s being too cautious.

As I stated earlier, I don't have a Blue Cruise subscription. But like you, I also use the accelerator to override the slow down. But I just want to turn it off.

IF the predictive cruise control had not been completely insane, then it would have been a great feature. The problem is, as you have noticed, that regardless of settings it will hard brake before many turns. Now, even that I could accept if it was logical, but by the gods, let me explain how it works here:
1) Approaches turn, brake like a lunatic.
2) Before the center of the turn (the sharpest point or midway), the car will accelerate.
3) Congratulations, the car now has hard braked and accelerated unnecessary since it drives the same speed in the turn as your CC is set to..

Bonus points:
4) Hilltop incoming: accelerate like you have mustard in your arse, then overshoot the CC settings, brake hard, accelerate, brake hard, accelerate and so it goes on and on…
5) Roundabout in 200 meters? Brake like a lunatic to 20 mph below speed limit. Then right before the roundabout: maximum speed and pretend you are Michael Schumacher while the driver and the passengers are terrified.
6) Speed sign in 200 meter that signals reduced speed? (Even visible in dashboard): Reduce speed by 2 mph, wait until sign, brake like you trying to avoid animals.
7) 50% of the time the car does not know wether the turn is left or right (display)
8) Ignores many corners and full - sends it in hairpin turns, brakes to a crawl in the slightest turn on the highway.

My brake points and acceleration points are ok on highway, but the speed through curves is 5-10 mph below normal traffic. On 2 lane roads, the timing is definitely wrong, with the braking too early and then hard acceleration before the apex. It is really disconcerting on curvy country roads. I eventually worked up enough courage to not override it, and it felt like I was near tire-squealing cornering loads on dry pavement. This was all in engage, too, and I suspect Unbridle would be more aggressive.

I am actually curious how all this is working. For at least some of the curves, I thought the curve icon on the IPC appeared before the cameras would have been able to identify a curve. If I'm right about that, then the car must be using GPS and talking to the mother ship to get road info, even though I'm not subscribed to BC, and these aren't mapped BC divided highways.

I'd really like to keep predictive speed on. It's saved me at least one speeding ticket when it saw a speed limit change that i didn't. I guess my best option is stop using cruise on 2lane roads and control speed myself like a caveman.

That has been there since day one when I got my MME back in March 2024. An annoying "feature," if you ask me. Why would a "sports car" like the Mustang need to be artificially slowed down ~5mph for even moderate curves? It is not like we are carrying open goldfish bowls in the back seats.

On a highway with a 60mph speed limit, I am normally 5mph over that, some fairly sharp lefts and rights slows the car about 3-4mph which is about what I prefer. I drive with all ADAS enabled all of the time. The car is 'comfortable' with me overriding its preferences.
