I got the “service vehicle immediately” warning due to loss of power. Turns out it was the “pump” in the motor. They had to replace both of them. It took 2 weeks for them to complete the work. I hope that resolved it.

Here is the kicker, I get the car back and there is a lovely door ding with scratches in the door. Not one ding or scratch anywhere on the car, rims perfect, and it comes back from Ford with a healthy ding. I’m the guy who parks real far away, or on the street so no one can ding me. It’s not something they can pop out, they have to sand it down, fix it, redo the entire door and blend the paint in to match. The question is, will they be able to match it perfectly? They admitted guilt and are covering it, but will they be able to make it perfect again?

Whether they can match it perfectly depends on whom they are having do the work. I had some vandalism to my Grabber Blue car and the mobile touch-up shop that fixed it did such a nice job that I cannot tell that it was ever damaged. ??

I had a similar ding repaired by a local body shop and it looks perfect as far as I can tell, so it is possible.
At this point, what do you have to lose by letting them fix it? Unless you think they’ll put an even bigger ding in the other door while it’s there.

...but will they be able to make it perfect again?
A good body shop can work miracles. They can fill/smooth out the area, match the paint and blend it with incredible skill. A good body shop can perform a repair that 99.9% of the population would never be able to detect.

However, that wasn't your question. You asked if it would be perfect again. The answer is "no." It can never be "perfect." You'll always know that there's a repair there, and someone with the right equipment/training will always be able to detect the repair (if they know where to look.)

I suppose you need to define what you'll accept as "perfection."

Thanks for the replies and confidence. Yes, perfection is the wrong term. If the average person can’t tell the difference and it looks the same color I’ll be happy.
