Make no bones about it, the hardware is capable of at least 700ftlbs and was locked at 600. This is simply a money grab by Ford, which I participated in. It's worth it, but should have been simply included.
The warranty cost on the GT with 600 lbs/ft is lower than the warranty cost for the 700 lbs/ft option. While the motors are capable of it, they are limited by their software, making the expected rate of failure lower. ??

You, and every other car company, can shove subscriptions to un-cripple the equipment already existing in a vehicle up your big, blue oval.

If it's in the vehicle when purchased, it should operate. If it doesn't, it's a warranty repair until it does.
The GT performance option is not a subscription. It’s a one-time charge. ??

And really, this is little different from a blue cruise subscription.

Upgrade will be first available on the 2024 Mustang Mach-E GT
You are implying that the upgrade will be available for more vehicles. Do you understand that you just wrote between the lines? You implied that the upgrade will second be available for what? 2025 Mach-E's? 2023 Mach-E's? You create a sub-text with your phraseology. I'm sure a lot of people are irritated by your your choice of words. Are you an American in Detroit or an Indian in Hyderabad?

It’s very different because it’s not a subscription, it’s permanent.

Paying money to gain horsepower in a car through a software tune is as old as computers in cars.

This is nothing new and should be HIGHLY encouraged by manufacturers to offer things like this.

The alternative is paying the same money or more to aftermarket tuners and potentially losing powertrain warranty coverage.

100 lb ft of tq AND warranty coverage for $1k or less? Sign me up, every time.

They answer that right there:  "As a result, prior model years will not be eligible to activate."

Probably implying that other 2024 trims may be eligible for an upgrade in the future.

True, it's not a subscription. My analogy was trying to associate paying to make full (or fuller) use of hardware already owned.

My biggest issue with the software provided "upgrade" is that Ford can take it away (or modify it) as easily as they provide it. Is there anything in writing saying if you pay XX money, you WILL get certain things and you'll have them permanently?

Or that subsequent model years of the Gen1 MME GT will be eligible (which I took it to imply). ??

Charging people to use functionality that a car's hardware is already capable of is insane to me. Not to mention extremely greedy.

Oh, really, Tesla doesn't just build stuff in their cars that you can't get unless you pay extra to unlock it?
