My E fleet…

I didn’t buy my Mach E to save the planet. I bought it because it’s sexy and fast…
I’ve seen pictures of your car before. It’s great looking.

Is that a Revibike Cheetah? It looks like way too much fun and a hoot to boot! Great look. Is there suspension in the fork? Will it fit in the back of the Mustang if the bike has to go to the shop?

Yes, it’s a Revi Cheetah.

I haven’t tried to put it in the back and I don’t think it will fit without hanging out. I had to hang it out of the back of my Escape when I got a big thorn in the back tire a couple years ago.

it goes 28 mph, you can use pedal assist or just the throttle.

Mine is 4 years old and no suspension in the front forks. Wasn’t available back then. I think the new ones have shocks on the front now…

...oddly enough, prior to me purchasing my EV, I felt that doing so meant I had to be a full on environmentalist. Thus, recycle, get rid of my partners ICE vehicle, get rid of all plastic, and such.

Coming up to a year in on EV ownership, and I do not think anything of the sort now!

Used to do that on one of these.

In the early 1970s

Got a new one mounted on my office wall for what reason I have no idea having spent £1,000 on it ?

Had so much fun with my Chopper?

I had a Chopper like that, same colour and everything. To add, I still have the scar down my right shin, from when I went flying from it. I was trying to do a wheelie. My goodness, those were the days (1982-1983)...

I enjoyed this post:

The myth about electric car owners

that EV owners are all passionate environmentalists, sanctimoniously swanning around in their zero–emission vehicles while disdaining the ghastly, planet-killing masses burning dinosaur juice.

https://www.spectator.co.uk/article/the-myth-about-electric-car-owners/
I have had folks try to lay that trip on me. My stock answer is "Yes but this is the green that, I am concerned about" as I rub my thumb and finger together in the universal sign for $$$$ Then I point out that I pay 2¢ a mile for fuel in my car, or in other words I go 40 miles for 80¢, and ask them to remind me how much a gallon of gas or diesel costs these days.

But he wrote it confidently. Who wants to read something with citations, stats, and actually attempts to prove something like https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0965856415303153

That would be boring.
Well, that definitely doesn’t apply to me personally. I bought an EV to save on gas, they’re fast as hell and fun to drive.. ?
If they’re to be successful and become the preferred vehicle of choice, the benefits of ownership must be marketed to the masses and have a fully developed charging infrastructure. It adoption depends on symbolism, they’ll fail.

With current gas prices around $3 here, an Escape hybrid getting close to 40 mpg would be comparable on a road trip. Some of the new DCFC chargers are priced over $.60/kwh.

True but personally I use my ev for commuting and drive 30,000 miles a year. I charge at home 99% of the time.
I’m not your typical driver but for me it’s about $200 less in fuel cost.

I like that it's an EV because it's cheap to operate and maintain. End of story, IMO. Sure, nice that it lowers my emissions but that was not at all on my mind when I purchased mine. I do sometimes miss the growl of a powerful ICE engine - at least until I drive by the $3.75/gal sign at the stations in my area (and I've seen those CA gas prices - WOW).

I just don’t want to go to a damn gas station.
Mostly agree. Except the 1 or 2 times a month on a road trip that I really do… I should have bought a plug-in hybrid, but I didn’t want to maintain an engine.

The best thing about this car: no more gas stations. Sometimes the worst thing about this car: no more gas stations.

That $10-15k extra for a Mach E vs Escape buys a lot of gas. Even at $3-4 gas is too cheap (yeah I said it), for an EV to be some great cost saver at their current price point.

Now countries with expensive gas? Yeah, there’s a reason EVs are taking off their faster.

Comparing the costs between an Escape and a GTPE are one thing, but I rather enjoy a Ribeye vs a hamburger steak.

It's a value equation that expands beyond just raw cost in legal tender.

Is a Mach-E Select that much of a downgrade from the driver's experience?
I Just can't imagine getting out of any escape and into any Mach-E and coming away with the same amount of joy in my cup.

Admittedly, the fully dolled up Lincoln version of the Escape, might tickle my fancy a bit closer. If I had to guess. But the co$t equation would certainly require it to.
