Ford 2023 Mustang Mach-E GT Review
Date of Purchase: 2024
Mileage: Approximately 5,000 miles
Color: Grey
I purchased my first electric vehicle, the Mustang Mach-E GT, about 3 months ago, and I’d like to share my experience with it over the last few months.
Design
The Mustang Mach-E GT impresses with a design that perfectly balances the traditional Mustang sports car DNA with the sleekness of a modern electric vehicle. The grey color, in particular, never gets old, offering a sharp yet luxurious feel. The headlight and taillight designs also capture the classic Mustang spirit beautifully. The exterior design is flawless—it's both stylish and stunning.
Performance
As expected from a GT model, the performance is nothing short of incredible. It goes from 0 to 60 mph in under 4 seconds, making it remarkably fast. Both city and highway driving feel smooth and stable. Especially in Unbridled mode, you can feel the full potential of this high-performance EV. The immediate acceleration is a thrill that’s hard to replicate with any internal combustion engine vehicle. Whisper mode is calm and provides a quiet driving experience, perfect for chauffeuring VIPs or executives. On regular days, I enjoy the exhilarating acceleration in Unbridled mode.
Range & Charging
With a 100% charge, the range is just okay—not overly impressive, but the 270-300 mile range doesn’t feel inadequate either. However, the battery tends to drain faster when driving at high speeds or in sports mode. I mostly use a Level 1 charger, which takes about 12 hours to charge 15%. Fast charging still takes around 40 minutes to charge up to 80%, which is slower compared to other models, so it might frustrate those who are less patient.
But don’t you find happiness just sitting in your Mach-E while it charges? I thoroughly enjoy my time sitting in this fun, gorgeous, and excellent electric vehicle for 40 minutes while the battery charges, either watching my phone or handling some work. Honestly, the happiest part of my day is getting into the car after work.
Interior & Features
The interior is futuristic and clean. The 15.5-inch large touchscreen and intuitive UI make operations easy, and the smartphone connectivity is seamless. The B&O sound system delivers excellent audio quality, providing an outstanding music experience.
However, I have occasionally experienced issues with the system lagging or glitching, where the screen turns black or blue before returning to normal. Thankfully, since this is a software issue, I believe Ford will address it with future updates.
Cons
One major downside is the lack of sufficient fast-charging infrastructure in the U.S. Without careful planning of charging stations, long-distance trips can be inconvenient. Additionally, while EV battery efficiency tends to decrease in colder climates, I live in the southern U.S., so it’s not a major concern for me.
Another issue is the Ford OEM windshield, which seems quite fragile and expensive to replace. The tires also wear down fairly quickly due to the vehicle's weight, so choosing durable tires is crucial.
One of the most significant drawbacks is that the Mach-E is not the most comfortable vehicle. My girlfriend drives a Lexus NX, and I can feel a noticeable difference in comfort when driving over the same speed bumps at the same speed. I also wish there were more aftermarket accessories and parts available.
BC $75/month or $800/yr is rediculous. I will never and ever pay such amount.
Overall
The Mustang Mach-E GT has been an incredibly impressive vehicle as my first electric car. The design perfectly blends the classic Mustang sports car DNA with the sleekness of modern electric cars. The grey color gives it a timeless, luxurious look. Its performance is outstanding, especially with its under-4-second 0-60 mph acceleration. In Unbridled mode, the car’s instant acceleration is a thrilling experience, while Whisper mode offers a quiet, stable driving experience—perfect for VIP rides.
The range is average, and while the battery drains faster during high-speed driving, the overall charging experience is still enjoyable, thanks to the car’s fantastic features. Although the system occasionally lags, I’m confident that future software updates from Ford will improve this.
The lack of sufficient fast-charging infrastructure, the fragility of the OEM windshield, and the fast-wearing tires are some downsides, and the comfort level is not as high as some luxury SUVs like the Lexus NX. Nevertheless, for people seeking a high-performance electric car, the Mach-E GT is an excellent choice. Every moment spent in this vehicle is a joy, and I wholeheartedly recommend it as a thrilling introduction to the electric car era.
