You have a Bolt AND a Porsche ? Do you use the Bolt as a golf cart to drive around the estate ? That's gotta be a shock to the system to go from the Porsche to the Bolt .

you'll have to ask Ford..
EDIT: ignore the below. The heat pump wasn’t added until MY25 and I can’t find range numbers for MY25
So, according to this article, the 2024 Mustang Mach E 4X (extended range, all wheel drive), has a published range of 265 miles.
My MY 2021 Job 1 Premium 4X has a published range of 270.

so, in addition to less frunk space because Ford engineers are lazy, the heat pump delivers less range. ?

According to this post, it's about 20 miles of range, so less than 10%.

I think that guy just likes to lol at people to feel superior, so I'm glad you're carrying the torch, fellow frunk enthusiast ?

So just how much range did that heat pump provide?
I would guess the EPA range wouldn’t really change because they don’t do that test in low temps.

Probably the easiest comparison would be a Model 3 that was available with and without a heat pump.

The problem is trying to get an actual measurement with statistically significant results.

We know a heat pump is more efficient than a resistance heater at certain temperatures. We would have to know the exact amount of electricity each uses to determine how much that would reduce range.
https://www.teslarati.com/tesla-model-3-heat-pump-test-video/amp/

Model 3 used 10% of the battery in 3 hours for the heater vs 3% for the heat pump. That’s about 1.7 kw per hour. In 3 hours maybe 15 miles of range in cold temps.

I agree. Its's not important to me but he is the first person I have known to say they would not buy an EV because it did not have a frunk... which I find silly, as is my right...lol
Whatever. I’m with Jim. No frunk, no sale. Without exception.

I must say the absence of CarPlay is a deal-breaker. Like MellowJohnny I use CarPlay to take conference calls with Teams, as well as my own music apps, and Audiobooks. It wouldn't be the same via plain Bluetooth. It always surprises me that premium cars (like the Tesla) don't include CarPlay.

I drove a Silverado EV a couple weeks back and surprisingly, it did have CarPlay. I must admit I was blown away by the Silverado range (480 miles!). But on the interior, I missed my Mustang, interior. I was especially put off by the fact there was no Start-Stop button. You just step into the Silverado and it starts, or step out to stop it. Weird. Since this is a Ford forum, let me say that Ford got the interior layout of the Mach E just right, IMO.

I believe that I've used the front trunk in my car maybe three times in a year, and if you gave me the choice,
On an off week I use it that often. Most weeks it’s far more.
I might prefer to have a shorter, smaller Mach-E and forget the front trunk.
Personally I’d never have bought a smaller Mach-e.
I wish they would reconsider their anti-Apple stance and allow CarPlay,
For me the lack of CarPlay is a deal breaker as well.
(MME with a heat pump)
An interesting thing to see at the last EV drive-in out here was looking at the pre heat pump Teslas with the comparable post heat pump model Teslas and you get a smaller frunk to go with that heat pump.

The most striking example was a 2018 or so Model S RWD. Big frunk. Really nice. The 2022 or 23 version had a frunk about half the size. Apparently it’s even worse with the two-motor cars with heat pumps. ?‍♂
MOST break-ins are by people that leave a vlaluable in clear sight,
The most common break ins now are cars that hide stuff in the trunk area, either with the blowin in the wind shield we have or other methods. Smash, grab and run. Frunks take too much time to open. Smash, search for a lever it may not have or where you can’t find quickly, open the hood, grab and run.

My experiences with EV's so far including the before purchase research, the purchasing my GT from Ford, and the experiences driving the Mach-E; have taught me a few lessons I will bring to my next EV purchase.

1) There are EV's designed from the ground up as EV's (Frunk vs no Frunk, transmission tunnel remnants or not, all wheel drive or not, interior/exterior appearance design changes or not).

2) Advanced tech and battery levels vary wildly for each manufacturer. One of the down sides of my Mach-E purchase is that some of the features and hardware were old compared to other vehicles at similar price points.

The next time I make an EV purchase I flat out refuse to buy a vehicle that is merely a repurposed ICE model (BMW i4 series for example) that a) doesn't have a frunk, b) still has a transmission tunnel or c) has no unique design features that differentiates the EV from similar ICE models. The tech must also be top notch (Selling Turner Lithium Ion batteries in 2021 for example) or paying for beta testing self driving features in real time (Blue Cruise). I refuse to buy a future EV with outdated hardware or software as by 2030 there will be no excuses not to have say a security camera mode or pet mode as options in these future EV's.

Nope, that's total BS. If it is truly "hidden" in the trunk area MOST potential car thieves are going to keep on going looking for easier target. They are not going to break in on the off chance there is a "insert valuable thing here" HIDDEN in the trunk area.
Look, I get it it..you love a good frunk and won't buy a vehicle without one, but you don't need to create weird scenarios to justify your love of the frunk! :)

Sorry, I just post my views based on the fact that my brother in law is chief of police in a large suburban town in IL. Maybe Hawaii plays by different rules....
