Does anyone have tales of excessive out of warranty costs? It seems like dealerships can charge whatever they want these days, especially with technology. And I don't believe there are any third party repair choices for the mach e. My standard warranty is up in a few months and I am considering an extended warranty.

You can have a headlight go bad and be out a couple grand from not buying a warranty

You can also never have anything go bad and be out a couple grand from buying an extended warranty.

But whatever amount someone is willing to sell you a warranty for it means they are mathematically betting that it will be more profitable for them than you.

Headlights aren’t covered unless you buy the extra lamp add-on.

considering they have officially retired the cars maintenance schedule as of the 2024 model my assumption is they are just leaving you to the wolves, just look for a good dealer, cant wait for the heavy duty 3500 mi maintenance intervals for blinker fluid. Service departments gotta make that $$$.

I had to have a new IPMA installed and a replacement coax to the camera. Without the extended warranty it would have been close to 5K. Ended up costing me $100 deductible.

Did you notice any problems with it before the factory warranty expired or not?

Yeah I've seen numerous mentions on here about having to replace the camera coax. What is going wrong with it? That's a weird item to fail at all, especially this early.

No, my 3 years was up in June and had already hit 36k miles by then. Started getting intermittent camera faults in September, then by October it was a hard fault and lost adaptive cruise.

Mine is a '23 and started with intermittent camera, LKAS, BC, and frontal collision failures.

6 months later it got so bad it would fault every day.

TSB 23-2155 took care of the 2 coax cables under 3/36 warranty.
Repair tech said it would have cost me $4K for the repair job that took 10 days.

Hmm, so the cables just went bad after 3 years? Did the vehicle have the glass recalls done which would have disturbed them? Or maybe just the Arizona heat did it?

If you query those who have the trims with LED lighting, I think you will find the vast majority add the Lighting coverage. I mean those who do purchase the Ford ESP extended warranty.

If you purchased from one of the 3 online discounters for Ford/Lincoln ESP, and you purchase it in the first year or two of ownership (new), you can get 8 years 100,000 of Premium Care W/LED coverage for le$$ than one of those fancy headlights.

You can buy more years and/or higher mileage. You can also postpone beyond the first year of ownership, but the price does increase and the value equation along with it.

I personally think ~a couple $thousand for 8/100,000 for Premium-LED for these modern tech-laden vehicles is a pretty decent deal.

When I looked, it was an extra $70 for lights or lamps….don't recall the exact term.

That's exactly what I did. Was actually shocked at how little the cost was.

Yes sir. If it were not for the Ziegler, Flood, and recently added Granger sources for basically wholesale-ing the Ford ESP coverage directly to the customer, I would not likely be an extended warranty consumer. But they tilt the value equation, for ME, completely outside of the well supported argument against such products.

I personally was also concerned about this issue.
I researched warranties and found a dealer in the mid west selling warranties for reasonable cost. I don't live anywhere close to the dealership that sold me the extended warranty.
It is a Ford dealership that sold me the Ford extended warranty. I opted for a couple extra items such as lighting option.
I have not used it since I got the warranty which was around August, 2024.

Mine came with small deductible, $100.

Hope this helps.
