I parked my car (2024 Premium EX) outside last week for five days while at work. I’m in Wisconsin so it was really cold.

When I landed I tried to remote start my car like I always do. This function and all remote access is not functioning.

Anyone else have this issue?

Any ideas on a resolution?

All of my Connected services seem to be up to date.

I don’t know if some update was pushed while I was gone and it failed but I did notice that the power settings had defaulted back to Engage which seems to happen after an update. I normally keep it in Unbridled.

It’s been working fine up to this point. I use it every day so not sure what the issue is.

Thanks for any inputI.
I have an appointment tomorrow to change out a rear passenger window because it was all scratched up when I took delivery this summer. I’ll see what they say.

Thanks,

Reboot your phone and try it again tomorrow after driving the car. Sometimes it glitches.

Yeah, I tried that.
I’ll try reloading the app.

The app works for all the Bluetooth controls when I’m near the car.

And FYI sometimes you have to turn the car on and off to re-enable remote start if you've made too many attempts or it failed.

Hi there! Will you send us a message with your VIN and your local Ford dealer? I can look into things on my end.

After several days the MME goes into deep sleep mode and shuts down unnecessary modules to protect the 12v battery. The modem is one of the modules it shuts down, disabling Fordpass access until you get in and start the car normally. Don't worry, the MME will charge the 12v battery from HVB when it goes into Deep Sleep. Close-range Bluetooth functions will work, but long-range WIFI or Cellular functions on FordPass will not.

This is normal.

He's near the car now, and the app is locking and unlocking, and the bluetooth controls are working, so it's not sleeping.

As per my post, Deep sleep does not affect close-range Bluetooth controls. It only affects WIFI/Cellular controls from FordPass facilitated through the modem. They are different communication mechanisms.

I think it's pretty clear that he tried to remote start at the airport, landed, drove home, and is now using the car, no?

None of the remote access (long distance) features are working.
Did they start charging for cellular access for the remote start?
I don't ever remember paying for it on the 2021.
All of my connected services seem to be good.

Bluetooth is working.

I tried deleting the phone as key, deleted the app, restarted my phone reloaded the app and created a new phone as key. Still not working.

I can use Bluetooth while close to the car to open doors or windows, and trunks, but not remote start or schedule any departure times.

I also noticed while in the garage even while connected to WIFI, when I go to software updates, it doesn't return results. Same result while away from WIFI.

I've left my 2021 and this 2024 Mach E at the airport for seven days before without issue. Always remote started. Did this with the 2021 for years, never an issue.

I'm thinking it has something to do with the cellular module.

Are you sure it is connected to WIFI? I believe the WIFI and Cellular are both serviced from the same modem. Check your modem from within the car. Go to Connectivity and see if you can see the cellular connectivity indicator like in the circle below. (software versions may look different but should be similar)
Ford Mustang Mach-E Remote Start/Access Not Working 1734375161686-ul

If not, go into Manage Wi-Fi Networks-->View Available Networks and see if there is a check beside your home network showing it is connected.

If you don't see the cellular connectivity or WIFI connectivity, you may need to do a power reset on the modem. I'm not sure if the fuses are the same across the MME models so maybe check your manual - you are looking for the one with the Gateway module. I think it is fuse 21 on mine. Pull it and replace it a few minutes later. Alternatively, you can do a full 12v reset by pulling the negative terminal from the 12v battery for 5 minutes. Sometimes this is the only way if the update hung up communications somewhere.
If your modem is hung from an update, this should clear it. If not, your dealer may have to engage.

Turn Connected Services off, then a minute later back on.

Thanks guys.

I'll give this a try if when it comes back from the dealer today if they don't get it working.
He didn't seem to be very optimistic about having the time to dig into it.

I took it in to have a very scratched up rear passenger window replaced that was that way at delivery. Second piece of glass, hopefully this one is good.

if the connected services isn't connecting (the menu won't actually come up) then pull fuse 21/22 for a minute.

Thanks for the input.

No luck with the dealership. Standard response about Ford is aware of the issue and will fix it through an over the air update. Not sure how that's going to work if it's not connecting but the dealership said they can read my data from the car on the computer.

I do have an LTE connection and I am connecting to my home WIFI.

I'll try the fuses or battery reset tomorrow.

Question:

When pulling the fuses, do I pull them with the car powered on?

Is the fuse box up front with the LVB?

Thanks,
Sam
