New to using the public charging stations and have questions about activation methods.

1) What is a scenario where one would use the phone FordPass App vs the in car Public Charging App to activate a charging session?
2) Why would the FordPass App allow you to activate a charging session if neither your phone nor car are actually at the charging station?
3) Is there a scenario when you would actually want/need to activate a charging station before your arrival?

1) When Public Charging didn't work.
2) It doesn't, it requires you to be nearby, unless that has changed.
3) No. A few allow "reservations".

You could also use Plug and Charge at EA and Tesla.

1.) Whichever you want! I love using the Public Charging app when I can see the charger's name when I pull up - I tap Activate before I've even gotten out of the vehicle. FordPass is also neat though if you have your phone on you when you get out of the car.
2.) Why not? I've helped friends and family (even those with non-Ford EVs) out of charging jams by remotely activating a session for them if they ran into issues - and all the ones with non-Fords wished they had this functionality when I did.
3.) Before arrival? No, since the chargers themselves usually time out within a minute if nobody is plugged in. And if you try before arrival you risk paying for someone else's session if someone was just about to plug in...

Thanks for the replies. Yeah, 2) does not require you to be nearby; hence the questions.

2) Interesting scenario and I have read about people having issues activating the charging stations.
3) Yep, that can happen. :)
