GTPE - Precondition HVB (reduce jail bars!) in very cold weather - best practices?

I have a 2023 GTPE and, in New Jersey, it has been consistently cold (25F degrees by day and below that at night). I routinely get about 12 or so jail bars if I just hop in and drive. They also don't seem to go down if I just remote start.

Questions:
> If I elect to use Departure Time, will that significantly reduce the jail bars?

> If so, how much time should I allow for the HVB to warm up (considering it will often be below 20F degrees over the next week or so).
Example: If I want to depart at 9am, when should I initiate the schedule (i.e., about how long will it take for the HVB to warm up)?

Departure Times are the only way to precondition the battery before departure. As you say, remote climate is just that - climate for the cabin. Not the battery.

And the beauty of the Departure Time is that you just set it for the time of your departure and it's ready. If you want to depart at 9, tell it you want to depart at 9. It will wake up and ready itself.

Mine does the same but I don't bother to precondition. I'm rarely going to use more than the available "cold" miles daily anyway. And the "jail bars" when cold don't really matter at all. They just limit how much power you have available while the battery pack is cold (which is a what a real "eco" drive mode should do anyway).

Your battery pack will also warm up over your drive and eventually be back to full power on its own. I have about a 20 mile commute one way and my jail bars go away before I get to work... even at 20° (though next week is supposed to be -5° one morning, so I MIGHT precondition that morning).

Set your departure time to when you want to leave and the car will figure out how long to warm the battery. Making sure you know that the car has to be plugged in for preconditioning to work.
