It's not noon yet. You're looking to hard for a conspiracy. No, I am not a conspiracy theorist, but I find the timing a bit suspect given today's ascension of Elon as Crown Prince Dauphin. BTW, note that Reuters just changed the headline from "opens" into "upgrades."
Please note that I may not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but Elon has long insisted that his Level 2 run only on camera visuals in opposition to LIDAR and other competing tech. Thus it follows that he would rejoice at competition performing in a similar crash smash ouch manner as his in low visibility scenarios.Bluecruise is a Mach-E ADAS system.
Nothing to do with Tesla.
But if you say so. ????
Tesla has never complied with mandatory reporting of accidents using autonomous features and DOGE has said it will likely eliminate that department anyways. Highways will be MadMax soon. Please note that I may not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but Elon has long insisted that his Level 2 run only on camera visuals in opposition to LIDAR and other competing tech. I'm in the same age cohort. When I taught my kids to drive, I told them the most dangerous thing you will ever do is "get in a car to drive from point A to point B." Now at 40 and 36 they tell me that was the best driving advice and that too many people don't think that way when they drive.I'm near 70 years old.
Driving on the roads have been dangerous my whole life. I think statistics indicate that we die on the road in similar numbers annually, regardless of the obvious advancements in "safety" over the last 5 decades.
Honestly, as much as I enjoy all the latest technology in my personal vehicles, I don't think any technology currently available gives me immunity to the risks of losing my life on the way to the office today. Or the trip to see my dad 200 miles away. The dump truck behind me might experience brake failure at the next stop sign.
Human vigilance and shear luck are my best safeties. I've already defied the odds by being primarily a motorcyclist from 15 years old until 2014. (40+ years) Vigilance is hardwired into my driving psyche.
