Had a scary moment where we tried three stations at the Hope Supercharger and it didn’t work, disconnected each time. Then the Tesla app said “your car is no able to charge at Superchargers at this time”.

So we went to the adjacent Electrify Canada and had to try two stations and five times before it finally started working.

I had visions of spending the night in Hope.

Yeah... I've seen this almost every time I try to use a DCFC. I've never had to change the stall I am parked in. (so far).

I do a combination of unplugging and replugging, switching between the Tesla app and the Ford App. Eventually one of them initializes correctly.

It is anxiety invoking for sure.

I am hoping long-term this gets better.

BTW, was watching a charging video where the Tesla DCFC just stopped on an Ionic for no particular reason. Unplug-replug, continue.

I wonder if adapter quality is a factor. Teslas don't seem to have this problem being NACS native.

I have used Tesla Superchargers extensively and never had this issue. The error seems like it is happening during the initial handshake phase. Poor connection of the pilot circuit (smaller pins) can cause this type of error. I've had it happen at EA stations. A pretty reliable remedy is to apply slight upward and inward pressure on the charging cable handle until session initiation is completed and charging has started.

Which adapter are you using?
Early A2Z adapters with the sliding lock were very difficult to fully engage and lock. So I'm thinking maybe that could be a factor.

I’m using the A2Z Typhoon Pro gen 2. This is the first time I’ve had problems at a Supercharger. The cable length and parking were such that I had to pull it pretty hard at the first station I tried, but then I tried two more stations, one of which we could pull up beside.

I had this very issue with the Shell superchargers not far from my house (also near Tesla charge station) Would start charging then "pop" quit charging and I'd get a fault message on the charger. Quit trying them after going back a few times. It's at a Mall so would be great to charge while taking a walk around the stores, the Tesla charger is not really in a spot where I can do that since it's just a chicfila and JackITB next to it. Nothing else around close enough.

I've not heard of any such problems with the A2Z Typhoon Pro gen 2. Here's what I would do... If you can borrow another adapter, it might be worth trying to see if you have the same issue at the same Supercharger. If it works, then contact A2Z. If it also doesn't work, then suspect the charge port on your vehicle, contact your dealership.

I was only trying the Tesla app because I bought a membership and wanted the cheaper price.
Next time, try just plugging in without using the Tesla app.
Yes I know the rate will be higher but it's a way to find out if the Tesla app comms is at fault.

I had this happen one time when I used a Supercharger w/ my A2Z adapter - as soon as the comm message showed up, I closed the app, disconnected and then reconnected.

Ford P&C started to work and I was able to charge.

With my heavy Supercharger use, one time failure was not an issue.

FYI, This was using the magic dock.

Trying to use the Tesla app will usually result in error if you have Plug and Charge active. Plug and Charge is cool and all, but it doesn’t play nice with the apps we need to use for discount plans. Not saying this is OP’s issue, but I’d say there’s a high propbability.
